Corbett closed out the 2023 campaign on IR after suffering a knee injury in a Week 11 loss to the Cowboys. His ability to take part in drills Tuesday suggests the Nevada product's knee is well healed as Carolina begins preparation for the upcoming season.

Amare Barno CAR LBPanthers' Amare Barno: Still dealing with injury
17h agoBarno (knee) is not participating in voluntary workouts Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Barno finished out the 2023 campaign on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury Week 16 against the Packers. Although it's not clear what specifically the injury was or how much longer it may affect him, it appears to still be a big enough issue that the Virginia Tech product is not taking part in drills. Luckily, for the Barno and the Panthers, training camp is still about three months away.

Isaiah Rodgers PHI CBEagles' Isaiah Rodgers: Restrictions lifted
18h agoRodgers was reinstated by the NFL on Tuesday after he was suspended for the 2023 season for violating the NFL's gambling policy, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Rodgers was originally suspended in June of 2023 after making bets on NFL games, which led to him being waived by the Colts. Despite the suspension, the UMass product inked a new deal with the Eagles two months later. With his suspension lifted, Rodgers will now be able to participate in all team activities for the first time since he signed with Philadelphia.

Patrick Surtain II DEN CBBroncos' Patrick Surtain: Has fifth-year option picked up
18h agoThe Broncos picked up the fifth-year option on Surtain's rookie contract Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The ninth overall pick in the 2021 Draft, Surtain so far has met expectations in his three-year career, earning back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances the last two seasons and even first-team All-Pro honors in his second campaign. Overall, he has seven interceptions among 36 pass defenses in 50 regular-season contests while averaging 63.6 tackles per 17 games played, making him a respectable option in IDP formats. With Tuesday's transaction, Surtain now is locked in in Denver through the 2025 season.

Thompson fractured his fibula Week 2 against the Saints, which sidelined the veteran linebacker for the remainder of the 2023 campaign. His ability to take part in drills Tuesday would suggest the 30-year-old has moved past the injury and is fully healthy as the Panthers begin early preparation for the upcoming season.

18h agoWonnum (quadriceps) is missing voluntary workouts Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Wonnum is still on the mend after surgery to repair his quadriceps, which he injured during Week 16 of last season. The South Carolina product inked a deal with the Panthers in March, so although it seems the franchise is not worried about his injury, it's not clear yet when he'll be ready to participate in the team's offseason programs.

Griffin Canning LAA SPAngels' Griffin Canning: Gets first win of season
3m agoCanning (1-3) got the win over the Orioles on Tuesday after allowing three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four over five innings.
Canning navigated through four scoreless innings before the Orioles plated three runs against him in the fifth on four hits and a sacrifice. It's his second straight start allowing three runs or fewer though he has failed to get more than 16 outs in any of his five starts thus far. Canning has also kept things in the ballpark, allowing no home runs over his last two starts after giving up five in his first three. He's now at a 7.50 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 20:7 K:BB in 24 innings and lines up for a start versus the Phillies next week.

Merrill Kelly ARI SPDiamondbacks' Merrill Kelly: Likely to miss at least one month
8m agoArizona manager Torey Lovullo said after Tuesday's 14-1 win over the Cardinals that he expects Kelly (shoulder) to miss at least one month after landing on the 15-day injured list, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports. "We're not looking in terms of weeks as what we had hoped for," Lovullo said of Kelly's timetable for a return from a teres major strain in his right shoulder. "So I think the next step up is a month, more than that."
Kelly had rolled to a 2-0 record, 2.19 ERA and 0.93 WHIP over 24.2 innings through his first four starts of the season before he was scratched ahead of his most recent turn in the rotation this past Sunday against the Giants upon experiencing shoulder discomfort during a throwing session. He was sent in for two MRIs in recent days, and although both confirmed that Kelly had sustained a teres major strain, Lovullo noted that the Diamondbacks don't yet know if the strain if of the Grade 1, 2 or 3 variety. Lovullo added that Kelly will receive "a couple other opinions" on his injury before a firmer timeline and a treatment method is established, but the skipper said that the right-hander won't need surgery even while the "concern [level] is yet to be determined." In any case, Kelly's fantasy managers can probably feel comfortable ruling him out for all of May, and it could be difficult to justify stashing the 35-year-old if his timeline for a return ultimately gets pushed back further.

Willson Contreras STL CCardinals' Willson Contreras: Will play through hand injury
8m agoContreras admitted after Tuesday's loss to the Diamondbacks that his left hand "doesn't feel good" but is "nothing that will keep me away from the game," Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Contreras missed four games earlier this month with an injury that was suffered back on April 3. He homered in his first plate appearance for the Cardinals' lone run Tuesday before eventually exiting after the fifth inning in the blowout loss. Manager Oliver Marmol said the lopsided score was the bigger reason for Contreras' departure, and the catcher seems adamant that he will continue to play through the injury. Contreras is slashing .326/.426/.500 in 13 games since getting hurt, so while it's clear he's not 100 percent, it does not appear to be affecting his offensive performance.

Michael Kopech CHW RPWhite Sox's Michael Kopech: Shaky in eighth inning appearance
9m agoKopech allowed two earned runs on two hits and no walks while striking out two to earn a hold Tuesday against the Twins.
Kopech was used in the eighth inning, and he primarily matched up against the top of the Twins' lineup. He allowed a leadoff single and later in the inning served up a two-run home run to Trevor Larnach. Kopech still maintained a one-run lead for the White Sox to earn his first hold of the season. The sample of the team maintaining a lead late in games is small, but it appears that manager Pedro Grifol is comfortable using Kopech in the highest-leverage situations rather than using him solely in save situations.

9m agoNeto went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Orioles.
Neto now has two hits in back-to-back games and has notched an extra-base hit in both games as well. Prior to this mini outburst, Neto was slashing .167/.241/.208 with just three doubles, six RBI, four runs and a 6:25 BB:K in 78 plate appearances. He's now raised his average to .205 as he looks to continue to pick up steam at the plate.

16m agoTrout went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 704 win over the Orioles.
Trout was placed atop the batting order for the first time since the 2020 campaign and wasted no time making an impact, taking Grayson Rodriguez deep to center for his first leadoff home run since 2012. Trout now has nine home runs through the team's first 24 games, which is his most since he had 10 in 2020. He's now also tied with Marcell Ozuna atop the home run leaderboard. Trout is now slashing .237/.324/.581 with 12 RBI, 15 runs, five steals and a 11:23 BB:K in 105 plate appearances.

1h agoLopez recorded 22 points (8-13 FG, 6-7 3Pt), one rebound, three assists and two blocks in 29 minutes during Tuesday's 125-108 loss to the Pacers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
Although Lopez generated 22 points and drilled a season-high six three-pointers, his rebound production was conspicuously absent. His one rebound matched a season low for Lopez, who has seen a noticeable drop in the category during his 16th season in the pros.

Bobby Portis MIL PFBucks' Bobby Portis: Records double-double in loss
1h agoPortis supplied 14 points (6-16 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 11 rebounds, two assists and one steal across 30 minutes during Tuesday's 125-108 loss to Indiana in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
Although Portis didn't come anywhere near Giannis Antetokounmpo's (calf) usual production, he's doing enough to keep the interior afloat. Portis is expected to play at least one more game as Antetokounmpo's fill-in, but he'll need to keep the double-doubles coming. The Bucks' playoff fortunes will fade rapidly without a stronger response to Pascal Siakam and Myles Turner in the paint.

Damian Lillard MIL PGBucks' Damian Lillard: Scores team-high 34 points in loss
1h agoLillard totaled 34 points (10-21 FG, 6-13 3Pt, 8-9 FT), four rebounds, five assists and one steal in 39 minutes during Tuesday's 125-108 loss to the Pacers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
Lillard followed up his 35-point performance in Game 1 with another solid number, but his stellar play wasn't enough this time around. His supporting cast was much less effective in Game 2, and Giannis Antetokounmpo's (calf) missing output continues to plague the offense. Lillard's excellent start to the postseason is no surprise, as he's averaged 29.5 points, 6.2 assists and 4.5 rebounds over 62 playoff games in his career.

Tyrese Haliburton IND PGPacers' Tyrese Haliburton: Ekes out double-double in win
2h agoHaliburton provided 12 points (4-10 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, 12 assists, one block and one steal in 37 minutes during Tuesday's 125-108 victory over the Bucks in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
Although Haliburton's former reputation as a prolific scorer has faded over the course of the season, his skill as a ball facilitator is as strong as ever. The Pacers could certainly use a dose of Haliburton's former shot volume as they attempt to advance, but recent trends show that a big scoring numbers for the guard may not be coming. He's now gone four consecutive games with 20 points or less, and has only exceeded that number four times over his past 10 games.

2h agoTurner produced 22 points (9-15 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), seven rebounds, six assists and three blocks in 34 minutes during Tuesday's 125-108 victory over the Bucks in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
Turner's value for the Pacers can't be understated, as the veteran consistently provides solid interior support. Interestingly, his exposure in fantasy contests is very low, making him one of the most underrated centers in the playoff bracket. Although players like Jalen Smith and Isaiah Jackson challenged him for playing time in the regular season, the 28-year-old Texas product was successful in keeping them at bay.

Obi Toppin IND PFPacers' Obi Toppin: Flirts with double-double in win
2h agoToppin amassed nine points (4-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 0-1 FT), eight rebounds and one steal over 21 minutes during Tuesday's 125-108 victory over the Bucks in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
Although Toppin has largely been a non-factor for the Pacers recently, he provided solid support in the second unit during the Game 2 victory. Players like Toppin can hold a lot of value for fantasy players in DFS contests, as his inexpensive salary can help lineups stay below the salary cap after adding elite players. His 9/8 line is an encouraging sign that Toppin can match the value of his DFS salary moving forward.

Ian Cole VAN DCanucks' Ian Cole: Provides assist Tuesday
7h agoCole picked up an assist and added two hits in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Predators in Game 2.
Cole snapped a five-game point drought when he set up a Nikita Zadorov tally in the second period. The 35-year-old Cole is unlikely to produce much offense in the playoffs, but he should be able to maintain a bottom-four role on the blue line. He had 11 points, 166 blocked shots, 83 hits, 61 shots on net and 61 PIM over 78 regular-season appearances.

Phillip Di Giuseppe VAN LWCanucks' Phil Di Giuseppe: Offers helper in loss
7h agoDi Giuseppe registered an assist and six hits in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Predators in Game 2.
Di Giuseppe didn't play much down the stretch, but he's been in the lineup over Vasily Podkolzin and Nils Aman through two playoff contests. In 51 regular-season outings, Di Giuseppe registered 10 points, 52 shots on net, 36 PIM and 94 hits. He'll likely stay in a bottom-six role during the postseason, if he's able to maintain his place in the lineup.

Nikita Zadorov VAN DCanucks' Nikita Zadorov: Nets lone goal in Game 2 loss
7h agoZadorov scored a goal on two shots, added two PIM and logged four hits in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Predators in Game 2.
Zadorov had gone 12 games without a goal, picking up three assists in that span. The 29-year-old defenseman got the Canucks on the board in the second period, but they couldn't form a comeback. He's earned two points five shots on net, nine hits and three blocked shots over two playoff contests while playing in a bottom-four role.

Casey DeSmith VAN GCanucks' Casey DeSmith: Takes loss Tuesday
7h agoDeSmith allowed three goals on 15 shots in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Predators in Game 2. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.
Thatcher Demko (undisclosed) is out of action, so it's DeSmith's turn in the crease for the Canucks. His first outing was poor -- the Predators were opportunistic with their chances early on and successfully bunkered down in the third period to hold the lead. DeSmith was mediocre in the regular season with a 12-9-6 record, a 2.89 GAA and an .895 save percentage over 29 appearances. He'll need more help from the team in front of him as the series shifts to Nashville for Game 3 on Friday and Game 4 on Sunday.

7h agoZucker logged an assist, three hits and two PIM in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Canucks in Game 2.
Zucker has a goal and an assist over two playoff contests, already more offense than he had in his last eight regular-season outings (one goal). The 32-year-old winger looks set to stay in a middle-six role during the postseason. He should also see some power-play time, but the strength of the Predators' top line makes it tough to rely on their depth forwards for scoring.

7h agoNyquist logged an assist in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Canucks in Game 2.
Nyquist set up Filip Forsberg's second-period tally, which was the game-winner. The 34-year-old Nyquist is playing the role of a steady playmaker on the top line -- he has two helpers through two playoff contests, and he's earned a goal and five assists over his last five appearances. He should continue to see ample ice time at even strength and on the power play, giving him plenty of chances to chip in with offense.
