Coy Cronk MIN OL
Coy Cronk: Let go by Minnesota
1h agoThe Vikings waived Cronk (undisclosed) with a non-football injury designation on Thursday.
The 26-year-old offensive lineman went undrafted out of Iowa in 2021, and his most recent in-game action came back in 2022 with the Jaguars. It's unclear what Cronk's injury is, but he'll remain a free agent while he recovers from his unspecified issue.

Kenyon Green HOU OT
Texans' Kenyon Green: Competing for starting role
1h agoTexans' GM Nick Caserio told reporters Thursday that Green (shoulder) must earn his starting spot as the offseason progresses, Cole Thompson of USA Today reports.
Green sustained a shoulder injury during the Texans' preseason finale that forced him to miss the entire 2023 season, but his rehab process has been going well and he could partake in voluntary offseason workouts this week. Once he's able to return to the field, the 2022 first-round pick is expected to compete with Kendrick Green for Houston's top left guard position.

Demetrius Taylor 2005 DL
Demetrius Taylor: Reinstated by NFL
2h agoThe NFL reinstated Taylor from suspension Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
The 24-year-old defensive lineman has been reinstated after serving a one-year suspension for violating the league's gambling policy. Taylor has appeared in just one game and played 13 snaps across his NFL career, but he's now available to try and make his return to the field.

Rashod Berry IND DE
Rashod Berry: Reinstated from suspension
2h agoThe NFL reinstated Berry from suspension Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Berry was waived by the Colts shortly after receiving his one-year suspension for violating the NFL's gambling policy last offseason, but he's now been reinstated. During his two seasons in Indianapolis, the 27-year-old appeared in just eight games and recorded four total tackles. Now that he's been reinstated, Berry will attempt to make another roster this offseason.

C.J. Moore DET DB
C.J. Moore: Reinstated by NFL
2h agoThe NFL reinstated Moore from suspension Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Moore was suspended for violating the league's gambling policy last offseason, but he's now been reinstated by the NFL. The 28-year-old appeared in 56 games from 2019-2022, racking up 48 total tackles while primarily contributing on special teams. Detroit parted ways with Moore shortly after his suspension, so he's free to sign with any team now that he's reinstated.

Chukwuma Okorafor NE OT
Patriots' Chukwuma Okorafor: Likely starting in 2024
2h agoPatriots' director of scouting Eliot Wolf told reporters Thursday that Okorafor is currently profiles as the team's starting left tackle, Danny Jaillet of USA Today reports.
Okarafor spent the first six seasons of his career with the Steelers before getting picked up by the Patriots on Mar. 7. During his time in Pittsburgh, the 26-year-old appeared in 77 games and made 59 starts. New England could definitely still add tackle depth in the draft, but it seems as if the current plan is to have Okorafor start at left tackle in 2024.

Kirby Yates TEX RP
Rangers' Kirby Yates: Notches four-out save
3m agoYates earned the save in Thursday's 9-7 win over Detroit, allowing one hit while logging a strikeout in 1.1 scoreless innings.
Yates entered with two outs in the eighth inning, striking out Spencer Torkelson to strand the tying and go-ahead runs on base, before working around a two-out single in the ninth en route to his second save this season. Yates has yet to allow a run through his first eight appearances (8.2 innings) this year. The 37-year-old veteran has saves in two of the Rangers' last four games, as he looks to be firming his grasp on the ninth-inning job in Texas.

Miles Mastrobuoni CHC 2B
Cubs' Miles Mastrobuoni: Optioned to Iowa
13m agoThe Cubs optioned Mastrobuoni to Triple-A Iowa on Thursday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.
Mastrobuoni was able to crack the Opening Day roster with Patrick Wisdom on the injured list before the season began. He appeared in just eight games and only reached base once on a walk across 13 plate appearances. In a corresponding move, Patrick Wisdom was activated from the 10-day injured list.
-
Jack Leiter TEX SP
Rangers' Jack Leiter: Struggles in debut
15m agoLeiter did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Tigers. He allowed seven runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out three in 3.2 innings.
After a clean first inning, the Tigers tagged Leiter for four runs in the second before tacking on three more with two outs in the fourth. It was a tough debut for the second-overall pick in 2021 -- Leiter struggled to a 5.19 ERA in the minors last year though he'd gotten off to a promising start this season, posting a 3.77 ERA with 25 strikeouts in 14.1 innings with Triple-A Round Rock. Leiter will likely return to the minors, though it wouldn't be surprising to see him get another look with Texas later in the year.
-
Hayden Wesneski CHC RP
Cubs' Hayden Wesneski: Sent to Iowa
20m agoThe Cubs optioned Wesneski to Triple-A Iowa on Thursday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.
Wesneski was recalled to the majors Wednesday, but his big-league stint will come to an abrupt end with Jameson Taillon (back) returning from the injured list. The 26-year-old pitched four innings and earned the win Wednesday and could work his way back into the majors if he continues finding success at Triple-A.
-
Griffin Canning LAA SP
Angels' Griffin Canning: Better despite loss
22m agoCanning (0-3) took the loss Thursday against Tampa Bay, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out four.
While Canning was ultimately charged with his third loss of the year, it was a step in the right direction after he'd allowed four runs or more in each of his first three starts. It looked like it could be another short outing for Canning on Thursday after he allowed two runs in the first inning, but the right-hander would settle in and hold the Rays scoreless over his final 4.1 frames. Canning still sports an ugly 8.05 ERA with a 1.58 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB through 19 innings this season. He's currently slated to face the Orioles at home in his next start.
-
Patrick Wisdom CHC 3B
Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Back from IL
22m agoThe Cubs activated Wisdom (back) from the 10-day injured list Thursday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.
Wisdom went to the injured list just before Opening Day and was able to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Iowa on April 6. During the assignment, the 32-year-old appeared in nine games and went 11-for-27 with three home runs across 36 plate appearances. Miles Mastrobuoni was optioned to Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move.

Kawhi Leonard LAC SF
Clippers' Kawhi Leonard: Considered questionable for Game 1
1h agoLeonard (knee) is questionable for Sunday's Game 1 against the Mavericks, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.com reports.
The Clippers announced Thursday that Leonard received an injection in his left knee, and there's "cautious optimism" that he'll be ready for Sunday's matchup, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. While Leonard returned to practice Monday, he hasn't yet been cleared for 5-on-5 drills. Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank said Thursday that he isn't sure whether Leonard will need to participate in full-contact work before he's cleared to return to game action but said that the inflammation needs to continue to reduce. Lawrence said that he's hopeful the issue is trending in the right direction and that Leonard will play but also indicated that the 32-year-old's status remains up in the air.

Alex Caruso CHI SG
Bulls' Alex Caruso: Likely to be game-time decision
2h agoCaruso (ankle), who is questionable for Friday's Play-In Game against the Heat, underwent further evaluation Thursday that revealed reduced swelling, creating increased optimism that he'll be available for the win-or-go-home matchup against Miami, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Wojnarowski reported Wednesday night that Caruso had sustained a "significant" left ankle sprain Wednesday against Atlanta that put his availability for Friday's matchup in doubt. However, the 30-year-old appears to be trending in the right direction and will likely be a game-time decision as the Bulls attempt to secure the No. 8 seed in the playoffs. If Caruso is unavailable against Miami, Javonte Green, Torrey Craig and Dalen Terry could see additional playing time.
-
Duncan Robinson MIA SG
Heat's Duncan Robinson: Probable for Friday
2h agoRobinson (back) is probable for Friday's Play-In Game against the Bulls, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Robinson missed the final four games of the regular season due to his back injury, and although he was available for Wednesday's Play-In Tournament matchup against the 76ers, he didn't see any playing time. It appears likely that he'll be able to suit up again Friday, and he could see some minutes since Jimmy Butler (knee) has been ruled out.
-
Terry Rozier MIA SG
Heat's Terry Rozier: Remains out for Friday
2h agoRozier (neck) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Bulls.
Rozier, who will miss a sixth straight contest, has been diagnosed with a neck sprain rather than neck spasms, so it seems the injury is more severe than initially expected. The loss of Rozier will be huge for the Heat, and it will translate in a higher usage rate for Tyler Herro, while there will be more minutes available for Patty Mills and possibly Delon Wright.
-
Jimmy Butler MIA SF
Heat's Jimmy Butler: Officially has sprained MCL
2h agoThe Heat announced Thursday that Butler has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL and will miss several weeks, Tim Reynolds of Associated Press reports.
Butler suffered his right knee injury late in the first quarter of Wednesday's Play-In Game loss to the 76ers, but he remained in the game down the stretch despite a limp. However, the injury is significant enough to sideline him for multiple weeks, so even if the Heat take down the Bulls on Friday, it seems unlikely that Butler will be in the mix to return during a first-round series against Boston. Jaime Jaquez will likely take on a starting role in Butler's absence, while Haywood Highsmith and Caleb Martin could also see additional playing time.
-
Garrison Mathews ATL SF
Hawks' Garrison Mathews: Leads bench in scoring
3h agoMathews chipped in eight points (2-4 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-3 FT) over 13 minutes during Wednesday's 131-116 Play-In Game loss to Chicago.
Since the All-Star break, the 27-year-old averaged 6.9 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.7 assists on 45.8 percent from the field, playing valuable minutes during Trae Young's (finger) absence. With the Hawks looking to test the trade market around Young and possibly Dejounte Murray after a disappointing year, the Hawks will have until June 29 to decide whether they want Mathews back next season, which would fully guarantee his contract.

Eeli Tolvanen SEA RW
Kraken's Eeli Tolvanen: Returns Thursday
9m agoTolvanen (undisclosed) will draw into the lineup Thursday against Minnesota, per the media site.
Tolvanen missed Tuesday's 4-3 loss to Winnipeg due to the injury. He has 16 goals and 41 points in 80 outings in 2023-24. Kailer Yamamoto is expected to be a healthy scratch versus the Wild due to Tolvanen's return.
-
Joey Daccord SEA G
Kraken's Joey Daccord: Starting season finale
11m agoDaccord will guard the road goal versus the Wild on Thursday, per the NHL media site.
Daccord will get the last game of the season, having allowed eight goals during his current three-game losing streak. The Wild have scored 19 goals over their last six contests and could be a challenge.
-
Blake Coleman CGY C
Flames' Blake Coleman: Set to return Thursday
2h agoColeman (upper body) is expected to play Thursday against San Jose.
Coleman has 29 goals and 52 points in 77 contests in 2023-24. He missed the Flames' previous four games due to the injury. Now that he's healthy, Coleman is projected to serve on the second line alongside Yegor Sharangovich and Mikael Backlund.

Jack St. Ivany PIT D
Penguins' Jack St. Ivany: Reassigned to minors
3h agoSt. Ivany was moved to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Thursday.
St. Ivany recorded an assist, two PIM, 30 hits and 14 blocks in 14 contests with Pittsburgh in 2023-24. He also has four goals, 15 points and 30 PIM in 53 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. With Pittsburgh's season over but the minor-league club slated to make the playoffs, this is an opportunity for St. Ivany to get in some extra work.
-
Radim Zohorna PIT LW
Penguins' Radim Zohorna: Returns to AHL
3h agoZohorna was reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Thursday.
Zohorna has concluded the NHL campaign with four goals and seven points in 33 contests. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton is set to advance to the postseason, so the 27-year-old will help the club in that quest. Zohorna has nine goals and 25 points in 29 games with the minor-league squad.
-
Valtteri Puustinen PIT RW
Penguins' Valtteri Puustinen: Heads to minors
3h agoPuustinen was sent to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Thursday.
Pittsburgh's season is over, but Wilkes-Barre/Scranton has secured a playoff berth. Puustinen recorded five goals and 20 points in 52 NHL outings this year. He also has five goals and 11 points in 23 appearances with the minor-league club.
