Cam Brown NYG LB
Dolphins' Cam Brown: Inks deal in Miami
1h agoBrown agreed to a contract with the Dolphins on Wednesday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Brown appeared in 60 career games as a special-teams ace during his first four seasons with the Giants, tallying 24 tackles over that span. The 26-year-old played exclusively on special teams in 16 games during the 2023 campaign, so he'll more than likely fulfill a similar role for Miami in 2024.

Justin Murray CLE OT
Justin Murray: Hangs it up
1h agoThe Browns placed Murray on the retired/reserve list Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Murray played for the Raiders, Cardinals, Bills and Titans during his six-year NFL career, appearing in 41 games with 20 starts during his professional tenure. The soon-to-be 31-year-old joined Cleveland's practice squad last November and then signed a futures contract in January, but he never played in any games for the team.

J.K. Dobbins BAL RB
Chargers' J.K. Dobbins: Slated to join Chargers
3h agoDobbins (Achilles) is in line to sign a one-contract with the Chargers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
A second-round pick of the Ravens in 2020, Dobbins had two of his first four pro seasons cut short due to an ACL tear in 2021 and then a torn left Achilles in Week 1 of the 2023 campaign. In his 24 career appearances, he's averaged a robust 5.8 yards on 234 carries, gathered in 27 of 35 targets for 177 yards and scored 13 total touchdowns. Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache penned a letter to NFL teams in late March that Dobbins had received medical clearance to participate in football activities, but his new contract will be contingent on a physical. Once the move west to L.A. becomes official, Dobbins will join forces with former teammate Gus Edwards at the top of the RB depth chart, giving him some sway in fantasy working alongside QB Justin Herbert.

Darius Slayton NYG WR
Giants' Darius Slayton: Seeking new deal
6h agoSlayton (thumb) hasn't reported to the Giants' voluntary workouts while he seeks a contract extension, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Slayton, who led the team with 770 receiving yards in 17 games in 2023, has attended the Giants' voluntary offseason program in the past. The 27-year-old wideout is in line to earn $6.2 million in the final year of his contract in 2024, but Slayton is evidently looking to amend those terms. At this stage, Slayton -- who is recovering from an offseason procedure on his right thumb -- is poised to retain a key role in a Giants wideout corps that currently includes Wan'Dale Robinson and Jalin Hyatt.

Jaelan Phillips MIA LB
Dolphins' Jaelan Phillips: Getting fifth-year option picked up
11h agoGeneral manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that the Dolphins will exericse the fifth-year option on Phillips' (Achilles) rookie contract before May's deadline, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
A torn right Achilles' tendon limited Phillips to just eight games last season, but he's reportedly on track to be ready for Week 1 of the 2024 campaign. He's been one of the Dolphins' more impactful pass rushers over the past three seasons, and the team will be more in need of him than ever with Christian Wilkins having moved on to Las Vegas.

De'Von Achane MIA RB
Dolphins' De'Von Achane: Bulks up during offseason
11h agoAchane appears to have added muscle to his frame through his workouts earlier this offseason, Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post reports.
A photo of Achane showing up for OTAs went viral, with some saying he looks much larger than he did during his rookie campaign. It's his second offseason bulking up for football without also considering track and field, though at this point it's unclear how much muscle he's added relative to his weight from the 2023 NFL Combine, where he ran a 4.32-second 40-yard dash at 188 pounds. Achane averaged 7.8 yards per carry and scored a touchdown per game last season, albeit with injuries (six missed games) and Raheem Mostert's presence (209 carries) limiting the rookie to 103 carries and 27 catches in his 11 appearances. The Dolphins still have Mostert under contract -- along with backups Jeff Wilson, Salvon Ahmed (foot) and Chris Brooks -- but they'll presumably prepare Achane with more of the backfield work in his second NFL season.

Connor Wong BOS C
Red Sox's Connor Wong: Two hits, homer
6m agoWong went 2-for-3 with a solo home run during Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Guardians.
Wong clubbed a home run for a second-consecutive contest, bringing his season total to three -- each of which came in the past five games. He's also notched multiple hits in three consecutive contests and is slugging .676 with a 1.048 OPS in 35 plate appearances.
-
Ben Lively CLE SP
Guardians' Ben Lively: Outdueled in 2024 debut
13m agoLively (0-1) took the loss Wednesday, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk with seven strikeouts over five innings against Boston.
Although Lively was excellent in his first start of the campaign, he wasn't as good as Tanner Houck -- who pitched a complete-game shutout -- and was stuck with the loss. Lively ran into a bit of trouble in the third and fourth innings, bringing in Pablo Reyes on a balk in the third before surrendering a solo homer to Connor Wong in the fourth. With Gavin Williams (elbow) set to miss at least one more trip around the rotation, Lively should receive some opportunities to build on Wednesday's performance. His first chance to do so is set to come Tuesday in a rematch with the Red Sox.
-
Tanner Houck BOS SP
Red Sox's Tanner Houck: Twirls complete-game shutout
21m agoHouck (3-1) earned the win Wednesday, allowing three hits and no walks with nine strikeouts over nine scoreless innings against Cleveland.
Houck was absurdly efficient in his first-career complete-game shutout, needing just 94 pitches (69 strikes) to finish nine frames. He hasn't allowed a run in three of his four starts this season and has punched out seven or more in all but one start. He boasts a 1.35 ERA with a 28:2 K:BB over 26.2 innings in 2024, a massive jump from his 5.01 ERA from a season ago. Houck is tentatively scheduled for a rematch with the Guardians on Tuesday.
-
Ezequiel Tovar COL SS
Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Breaks out of slump
34m agoTovar went 3-for-5 with two runs batted in and a run scored during Wednesday's loss to the Phillies.
Tovar entered the game 1-for-14 (.071) over his last four games but snapped the cold spell with his seventh multi-hit performance of the campaign. While he's striking out at an alarming 31.3 percent clip, Tovar ranks top-three on the Rockies in hits (22), RBI (10) and runs scored (nine) while slashing .306/.363/.486.
-
Robert Stephenson LAA RP
Angels' Robert Stephenson: Out for season
35m agoStephenson will miss the entire 2024 season due to an elbow injury, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports,
The Angels will announce more details regarding Stephenson's injury Thursday, but his elbow issue is apparently significant enough to rule him out for the remainder of the year. The 31-year-old righty had been on a rehab assignment at Triple-A Salt Lake but was removed from his appearance Saturday after facing just one batter.
-
Trea Turner PHI SS
Phillies' Trea Turner: Continues hot streak
39m agoTurner went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Wednesday's 7-6 win over Colorado.
Turner went back-to-back with Kyle Schwarber in the first inning for solo home runs off Ryan Feltner, marking the shortstop's second long ball of 2024. He's been on a tear during the Phillies last two series, going 12-for-29 (.413) at the plate with six extra-base hits and seven runs scored over seven games.
-
Alex Caruso CHI SG
Bulls' Alex Caruso: Exits game
3m agoCaruso went back to the locker room during Wednesday's game against the Hawks with what appeared to be a right foot injury, Cody Westerlund of 670TheScore.com reports.
Andre Drummond stepped on Caruso's foot in transition and ran over Caruso at half-court. Caruso quickly removed himself from the game and limped back to the locker room. He should be considered questionable to return.
-
Andre Drummond CHI C
Bulls' Andre Drummond: Set to play against Atlanta
1h agoDrummond (ankle) is available for Wednesday's Play-In Tournament game versus the Hawks, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Drummond has been upgraded from questionable to available Wednesday after missing Chicago's previous three contests with a left ankle sprain. Drummond is averaging 9.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 18.5 minutes across his previous 10 appearances.
-
Javonte Green CHI SG
Bulls' Javonte Green: Headed to bench Wednesday
1h agoGreen will come off the bench for Wednesday's game against the Hawks, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Green started in Chicago's regular-season finale with the Bulls resting some of their main guys, but he'll return to a reserve role Wednesday, so his minutes and value will dip.
-
Bruno Fernando ATL C
Hawks' Bruno Fernando: Back to bench for Play-In
1h agoFernando will come off the bench for Wednesday's Play-In Tournament game against the Bulls, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Fernando drew the start in Game 82 of the regular season but he'll retreat to the second unit with Clint Capela (rest) back in action. While it's assumed Atlanta will trim down their rotation, Fernando should see upwards of 20 minutes Wednesday.
-
Clint Capela ATL C
Hawks' Clint Capela: Set to play against Chicago
2h agoCapela (rest) isn't on the injury report for Wednesday's Play-In Tournament game against the Bulls.
Capela will return to action Wednesday after sitting out Atlanta's regular-season finale for rest purposes. The 29-year-old big man should reclaim his starting spot from Bruno Fernando. Capela is averaging 12.0 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.8 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals in 28.6 minutes across his past 10 appearances.
-
Ayo Dosunmu CHI PG
Bulls' Ayo Dosunmu: Full go Wednesday
3h agoDosunmu (quadriceps) will play and is not under a minutes restriction for Wednesday's Play-In Tournament game against the Hawks, Will Gottlieb of AllCHGO.com reports.
Dosunmu missed the last four games of the regular season with a right quad contusion, but he's been given the green light for Wednesday's Play-In game. He should be expected to slot back into the starting shooting guard role. Dosunmu made 27 consecutive starts before sustaining the injury, averaging 16.9 points, 4.9 assists and 3.4 rebounds during that stretch.
-
Jeff Carter PIT C
Penguins' Jeff Carter: Announces retirement
27m agoCarter told reporters after Wednesday's season finale versus the Islanders that he will retire, Matt Vensel of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Carter scored the last goal of the Penguins' season, giving him 11 goals and 15 points over 72 contests in 2023-24. The 39-year-old center will finish his career with 851 points over 1,321 contests. He played for the Flyers, Blue Jackets, Kings and Penguins over the course of 20 NHL seasons. He also won the Stanley Cup twice with the Kings, as well as a World Junior gold medal in 2005 and an Olympic gold medal in 2014 while representing Canada.
-
Barrett Hayton ARI C
Coyotes' Barrett Hayton: Finishes season on shelf
1h agoHayton (lower body) won't play in Wednesday's season finale versus the Oilers.
Hayon sustained a lower-body injury in mid-March and it ended up bringing his season to an early close. The 23-year-old was limited to 10 points with 66 shots on net and a minus-13 rating in an injury-riddled campaign. Hayton will be in the mix for a top-six role in 2024-25, assuming he can heal up over the offseason.
-
Nick Bjugstad ARI C
Coyotes' Nick Bjugstad: Won't play in finale
1h agoBjugstad (undisclosed) isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's season finale versus the Oilers.
Bjugstad ended up missing the last five games of the campaign. He closes 2023-24 with 45 points, 165 shots on net, 118 hits and a plus-11 rating through 76 appearances. He is under contract for 2024-25, so he should be in contention for a middle-six role next season.
-
Jean-Gabriel Pageau NYI C
Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Exits Wednesday's game
2h agoPageau (undisclosed) exited Wednesday's game versus the Penguins after sustaining an injury in the first period, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
The Islanders are likely taking a cautious approach with the two-way center in the last game before the postseason. Pageau will wrap up the regular season with 33 points while playing in all 82 games for the first time since 2016-17.
-
Adam Erne EDM LW
Oilers' Adam Erne: Rises to NHL
4h agoErne was called up from AHL Bakersfield on Wednesday, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports.
Erne will give the Oilers extra forward depth should they decide to rest additional forwards over the last two games of the season. He previously posted two points and 67 hits over 23 contests at the NHL level this season.
-
Sebastian Aho NYI D
Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Not resting Wednesday
4h agoAho will play Wednesday versus the Penguins, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
Aho was initially slated to be rested for this game, but Anders Lee will now sit out instead. Aho will serve as a seventh defenseman, so it's likely his ice time will be limited anyway.
