Austin Corbett CAR OG
Panthers' Austin Corbett: Returns to action
2h agoCorbett (knee) participated during Tuesday's voluntary workout, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Corbett closed out the 2023 campaign on IR after suffering a knee injury in a Week 11 loss to the Cowboys. His ability to take part in drills Tuesday suggests the Nevada product's knee is well healed as Carolina begins preparation for the upcoming season.
-
Amare Barno CAR LB
Panthers' Amare Barno: Still dealing with injury
3h agoBarno (knee) is not participating in voluntary workouts Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Barno finished out the 2023 campaign on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury Week 16 against the Packers. Although it's not clear what specifically the injury was or how much longer it may affect him, it appears to still be a big enough issue that the Virginia Tech product is not taking part in drills. Luckily, for the Barno and the Panthers, training camp is still about three months away.
-
Isaiah Rodgers PHI CB
Eagles' Isaiah Rodgers: Restrictions lifted
3h agoRodgers was reinstated by the NFL on Tuesday after he was suspended for the 2023 season for violating the NFL's gambling policy, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Rodgers was originally suspended in June of 2023 after making bets on NFL games, which led to him being waived by the Colts. Despite the suspension, the UMass product inked a new deal with the Eagles two months later. With his suspension lifted, Rodgers will now be able to participate in all team activities for the first time since he signed with Philadelphia.

Patrick Surtain II DEN CB
Broncos' Patrick Surtain: Has fifth-year option picked up
3h agoThe Broncos picked up the fifth-year option on Surtain's rookie contract Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The ninth overall pick in the 2021 Draft, Surtain so far has met expectations in his three-year career, earning back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances the last two seasons and even first-team All-Pro honors in his second campaign. Overall, he has seven interceptions among 36 pass defenses in 50 regular-season contests while averaging 63.6 tackles per 17 games played, making him a respectable option in IDP formats. With Tuesday's transaction, Surtain now is locked in in Denver through the 2025 season.
-
Shaq Green-Thompson CAR OLB
Panthers' Shaq Thompson: Back on field
3h agoThompson (lower leg) is participating during voluntary workouts Tuesday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Thompson fractured his fibula Week 2 against the Saints, which sidelined the veteran linebacker for the remainder of the 2023 campaign. His ability to take part in drills Tuesday would suggest the 30-year-old has moved past the injury and is fully healthy as the Panthers begin early preparation for the upcoming season.
-
D.J. Wonnum CAR LB
Panthers' D.J. Wonnum: Still sidelined
3h agoWonnum (quadriceps) is missing voluntary workouts Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Wonnum is still on the mend after surgery to repair his quadriceps, which he injured during Week 16 of last season. The South Carolina product inked a deal with the Panthers in March, so although it seems the franchise is not worried about his injury, it's not clear yet when he'll be ready to participate in the team's offseason programs.
-
Hunter Renfroe KC RF
Royals' Hunter Renfroe: Steps out of lineup
3m agoRenfroe is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays.
Renfroe is in the midst of a 2-for-21 slump and will sit Tuesday after starting the previous six games. Dairon Blanco will take over in right field and bat seventh.
-
Miguel Castro ARI RP
Diamondbacks' Miguel Castro: To IL with shoulder injury
8m agoThe Diamondbacks placed Castro on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to April 21, with right shoulder inflammation.
Castro will undergo an MRI on his right shoulder Wednesday, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports. The reliever was dealing with discomfort for a bit, but it seems to have gradually gotten worse. He surrendered two runs on four hits across one inning during his last appearance Saturday. The 29-year-old is eligible to return May 7 against the Reds. In a corresponding move, Andrew Saalfrank was recalled from Triple-A Reno.
-
Braxton Garrett MIA SP
Marlins' Braxton Garrett: Restarting rehab assignment
12m agoGarrett (shoulder) threw a 25-pitch side session Tuesday and is scheduled to pick up his rehab assignment Friday with Triple-A Jacksonville, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
The left-hander is ready to resume his rehab assignment after a bout of dead arm slowed the progress in his return from a pinched nerve in his left shoulder. Garrett threw 86 pitches in his previous rehab outing April 12 and is scheduled to throw about 60 pitches or four innings Friday. The 26-year-old seems likely to require an additional rehab start after Friday before making his season debut for Miami.
-
Andrew Saalfrank ARI RP
Diamondbacks' Andrew Saalfrank: Called up Tuesday
20m agoThe Diamondbacks recalled Saalfrank from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.
The left-hander missed out on Arizona's Opening Day roster but will join the big club Tuesday as Miguel Castro (shoulder) moves to the injured list. Saalfrank made his MLB debut with 10 relief appearances last season and didn't allow an earned run over 10.1 innings.
-
Tommy Henry ARI SP
Diamondbacks' Tommy Henry: Recalled ahead of spot start
24m agoThe Diamondbacks recalled Henry from Triple-A Reno ahead of his start against the Cardinals on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old was demoted to Reno on April 17 after he posted a 6.87 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and 18:8 K:BB in his first four starts of the season, but he'll rejoin the Diamondbacks for another start Tuesday. Henry could stick in the rotation with a strong performance since Ryne Nelson (elbow) and Merrill Kelly (shoulder) are on the injured list.
-
Merrill Kelly ARI SP
Diamondbacks' Merrill Kelly: Heads to 15-day IL
25m agoThe Diamondbacks placed Kelly on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to April 20, with a right shoulder strain.
Kelly was diagnosed with a teres major strain of his right shoulder following his initial MRI Sunday. He was scheduled to start Sunday's series finale in San Francisco, but was scratched after experiencing discomfort prior to the game. The Diamondbacks were initially hopeful that the 35-year-old would avoid a 15-day shutdown, but the feeling changed Monday. The starting pitcher will be eligible to return May 5. In a corresponding move, Tommy Henry was recalled from Triple-A Reno.
-
Grayson Allen PHO SG
Suns' Grayson Allen: Good to go for Game 2
35m agoAllen (ankle) is available for Tuesday's Game 2 against the Timberwolves, Gerald Bourguet of GoPHNX.com reports.
Allen has been upgraded from questionable to available Tuesday despite dealing with a right ankle sprain. The 28-year-old guard failed to make a three in Game 1 but shot 46.1 percent on 5.9 three-point attempts per contest during the regular season. Allen won't operate on a minutes restriction.
-
Giannis Antetokounmpo MIL PF
Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo: Officially ruled out
2h agoAntetokounmpo (calf) has been ruled out for Tuesday's Game 2 against the Pacers.
As expected, Antetokounmpo has been downgraded from doubtful to out while he continues to recover from a left soleus strain. Without their star player, the Bucks were able to win Game 1 behind a stellar first-half performance from Damian Lillard, affording Antetokounmpo some extra rest, but if Milwaukee drops Game 2 at home, there may be added pressure for the MVP candidate to return Friday, when the series shifts to Indiana for Game 3.
-
Zion Williamson NO PF
Pelicans' Zion Williamson: Hopeful to return in postseason
3h agoWilliamson (hamstring), who will be re-evaluated in one week, says it is "realistic" he returns in the postseason, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
Williamson exited the Pelicans' first Play-In Tournament game against the Lakers with a hamstring strain and has not played since. However, Williamson says he is hopeful to eventually make his postseason return, which would likely require a second-round matchup. Despite not having Williamson available for Game 1 against the top-seeded Thunder, the Pelicans kept it close, losing 94-92. How quickly the medical staff clears him may depend on how the remainder of the series plays out.
-
Terry Rozier MIA SG
Heat's Terry Rozier: Won't suit up Wednesday
4h agoRozier (neck) has been ruled out for Wednesday's Game 2 against the Celtics, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
Rozier will now miss his eighth straight game, and it is unclear whether the team will look to rush him back for the remainder of the series without Jimmy Butler (knee). The 30-year-old is considered week-to-week and against the Celtics, so it would not come as a surprise for Rozier to miss the entirety of the series. With Rozier out, Delon Wright, Duncan Robinson and Patty Mills are all likely candidates to see an uptick in playing time.
-
Kawhi Leonard LAC SF
Clippers' Kawhi Leonard: Present at shootaround
5h agoLeonard (knee) is officially listed as questionable but was present for the Clippers' morning shootaround before Tuesday's Game 2 against the Mavericks, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.com
Leonard was ruled out for Sunday's Game 1 win, his ninth consecutive absence, but has a chance to return Tuesday. The Clippers will likely decide the veteran's availability closer to the 10 p.m. ET tipoff after seeing how he fares in pregame warmups. If Leonard is ruled out again, expect Terance Mann and Amir Coffey to pick up extra minutes.
-
Michael Porter Jr. DEN SF
Nuggets' Michael Porter: Goes for 22 points in Game 2
7h agoPorter totaled 22 points (8-13 FG, 6-10 3Pt), nine rebounds, one assist and two steals in 38 minutes during Monday's 101-99 victory over the Lakers in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Porter sniffed a double-double for the second consecutive game after delivering a 19-point, eight-rebound effort in Game 1 on Saturday, and the forward continues to impact both ends of the court for Denver. Even though he doesn't get the same attention as Nikola Jokic or Jamal Murray, Porter is a key piece in the Nuggets' offensive scheme, and he's averaging 16.2 points with 7.3 rebounds per game in April, including regular-season contests.
-
Charlie Lindgren WAS G
Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: In goal for Game 2
7m agoLindgren will start on the road in Game 2 versus the Rangers on Tuesday, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
Lindgren stopped 27 of 31 shots in a 4-1 loss in Game 1. The 30-year-old is firmly established as the Capitals' No. 1 goalie, but he faces an uphill battle versus the Presidents' Trophy winners. Lindgren has allowed eight goals across four appearances versus the Rangers in 2023-24.
-
Max Comtois CAR LW
Hurricanes' Max Comtois: Brought up from AHL
35m agoComtois was summoned from AHL Chicago on Tuesday.
Comtois accumulated 19 goals, 44 points and 109 PIM in 65 AHL contests during the 2023-24 campaign. He also picked up an assist and logged 13:04 of ice time in Carolina's regular-season finale against Columbus last Tuesday. If the Hurricanes stay healthy, Comtois probably won't see any game action in the playoffs
-
Antti Raanta CAR G
Hurricanes' Antti Raanta: Back in NHL
36m agoRaanta was promoted from AHL Chicago on Tuesday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
The Hurricanes already have three goalies on the roster, so Raanta's chances of playing in the postseason are incredibly low. Raanta struggled in 24 games with the Hurricanes this season, and he was a touch worse with a 2-2-4 record, a 3.54 GAA and an .873 save percentage in eight contests with the Wolves after he was sent down.
-
Dylan Coghlan CAR D
Hurricanes' Dylan Coghlan: Returns to NHL
38m agoCoghlan was called up from AHL Springfield on Tuesday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Coghlan's season with AHL Springfield is over, so he'll now serve as defensive depth for the Hurricanes during their playoff run. He had three shots on goal, three blocked shots and a minus-2 rating in his lone NHL appearance this season.
-
Philip Broberg EDM D
Oilers' Philip Broberg: Returned to AHL
1h agoBroberg was loaned to AHL Bakersfield on Tuesday.
Broberg has been up and down from the minors recently. He was a healthy scratch for Edmonton's 7-4 win over the Kings on Monday in Game 1. With Bakersfield set to open a best-of-three playoff series versus Ontario on Wednesday, Broberg may stay in the AHL to see some game action.
-
Chris Wagner COL RW
Avalanche's Chris Wagner: Hits waivers
4h agoWagner was placed on waivers Tuesday, per CapFriendly.
Wagner will probably remain with the Avalanche for Tuesday's Game 2 matchup versus Winnipeg. He will likely serve as a healthy scratch for a second straight outing. Wagner had one goal, one assist, 16 shots on net and 30 hits in 13 NHL contests during the 2023-24 regular season.
