Corbett closed out the 2023 campaign on IR after suffering a knee injury in a Week 11 loss to the Cowboys. His ability to take part in drills Tuesday suggests the Nevada product's knee is well healed as Carolina begins preparation for the upcoming season.

13h agoBarno (knee) is not participating in voluntary workouts Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Barno finished out the 2023 campaign on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury Week 16 against the Packers. Although it's not clear what specifically the injury was or how much longer it may affect him, it appears to still be a big enough issue that the Virginia Tech product is not taking part in drills. Luckily, for the Barno and the Panthers, training camp is still about three months away.

13h agoRodgers was reinstated by the NFL on Tuesday after he was suspended for the 2023 season for violating the NFL's gambling policy, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Rodgers was originally suspended in June of 2023 after making bets on NFL games, which led to him being waived by the Colts. Despite the suspension, the UMass product inked a new deal with the Eagles two months later. With his suspension lifted, Rodgers will now be able to participate in all team activities for the first time since he signed with Philadelphia.

Patrick Surtain II DEN CBBroncos' Patrick Surtain: Has fifth-year option picked up
14h agoThe Broncos picked up the fifth-year option on Surtain's rookie contract Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The ninth overall pick in the 2021 Draft, Surtain so far has met expectations in his three-year career, earning back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances the last two seasons and even first-team All-Pro honors in his second campaign. Overall, he has seven interceptions among 36 pass defenses in 50 regular-season contests while averaging 63.6 tackles per 17 games played, making him a respectable option in IDP formats. With Tuesday's transaction, Surtain now is locked in in Denver through the 2025 season.

Thompson fractured his fibula Week 2 against the Saints, which sidelined the veteran linebacker for the remainder of the 2023 campaign. His ability to take part in drills Tuesday would suggest the 30-year-old has moved past the injury and is fully healthy as the Panthers begin early preparation for the upcoming season.

14h agoWonnum (quadriceps) is missing voluntary workouts Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Wonnum is still on the mend after surgery to repair his quadriceps, which he injured during Week 16 of last season. The South Carolina product inked a deal with the Panthers in March, so although it seems the franchise is not worried about his injury, it's not clear yet when he'll be ready to participate in the team's offseason programs.

27m agoWitt went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base during Tuesday's 3-2 win over Toronto.
Witt's fifth-inning double proved to be the difference-maker in Tuesday's contest, plating two runs to give the Royals a 3-2 lead they would hold for the rest of the game. The 23-year-old shortstop remains one of baseball's top young stars with a .316/.362/.582 slash line through 105 plate appearances, and he's now logged a base hit in each of his last four games.

Only two men were able to reach base against McArthur despite the 27-year-old pitching an additional inning Tuesday, though he failed to register a strikeout. The right-hander now has five saves on the young season and seems to have cemented himself as the Royals' primary closer.

28m agoGausman (0-3) took the loss Tuesday versus the Royals after giving up three runs (all unearned) on seven hits and a walk while striking out two batters across 6.2 innings.
A strong start for Gausman fell apart in the fifth frame after a catching error by Vladimir Guerrero extended the inning, allowing the Royals to drive in all three of their runs. Although Gausman was tagged with the loss, there were plenty of positives to take away from his outing Tuesday, as it marked his longest start of the season. The 33-year-old righty has also now given up just one earned run in 11.2 innings across his last two appearances, giving him a decent amount of momentum heading into his next start -- tentatively scheduled for Sunday against the Dodgers.

Michael Wacha KC SPRoyals' Michael Wacha: Gives up eight hits
29m agoWacha didn't factor into the decision during Tuesday's win over Toronto, allowing two earned runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out four batters across 4.1 innings.
The Blue Jays reached base with consistency versus Wacha on Tuesday, but the 32-year-old was able to pitch himself out of jams more often than not. As a result, he required 96 pitches to get through 4.1 frames -- his shortest start of the season so far. He owns a 3.81 ERA and 1.27 WHIP across 28.1 innings through his first five starts as a Royal and projects to pitch again Sunday in Detroit.

29m agoJimenez went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run, stole a base and scored twice during Tuesday's loss to the Twins.
Jimenez's fourth-inning shot flipped the score from 1-0 to 3-1, and he came around to score after drawing a walk in the eighth to make it a 5-2 game. The White Sox ultimately were unable to come away with the win Tuesday, but the 27-year-old's offensive outburst propelled him up to a .795 OPS since returning from the injured list April 15.

30m agoFedde allowed one earned run on three hits and struck out 11 batters across six innings Tuesday en route to a loss against Minnesota. He didn't factor into the decision.
Fedde got behind early after allowing an RBI single to Max Kepler in the first inning, but an Eloy Jimenez three-run homer allowed him to leave the game with a 3-1 lead. However, the 31-year-old was unable to secure his second win of the season thanks to a ninth-inning rally from the Twins. His 11 strikeouts represent a new career high, and the right-hander has emerged as one of the more reliable arms in Chicago's rotation with a 2.73 ERA across his first five starts. He's lined up to start again at home against the Rays on Sunday.

2h agoPowell accumulated six points (2-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt), four rebounds and one steal over 26 minutes during Tuesday's 96-93 loss to the Mavericks in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Powell landed two three-pointers in the loss, although failed to connect on any other baskets. He remains an offensive sparkplug off the bench, but on nights like this, his lack of peripheral stats is on show for all to see. If the Clippers are to wrestle back the advantage, they are going to need Powell to be a more reliable offensive threat.

2h agoMann racked up five points (2-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt), two rebounds and one assist over 21 minutes during Tuesday's 96-93 loss to the Mavericks in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Mann offered very little outside of a highlight putback dunk, bumbling his way to five points as the Clippers gave up home-court advantage to the Mavericks. Although he continues to serve as a starting piece, the return of Kawhi Leonard from a knee injury means Mann could now be viewed as the fifth option on offense.

2h agoLeonard totaled 15 points (7-17 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, two assists, one block and four steals in 35 minutes during Tuesday's 96-93 loss to Dallas in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Leonard returned to action Tuesday after missing nine straight games due to a knee injury. Although he was somewhat tentative to begin the game, he ended up leading the team in shot attempts, adding five defensive stats. Barring any setbacks, Leonard should be good to go for Game 3 in Dallas on Friday.

2h agoExum finished with zero points (0-1 FG), one rebound and one block across six minutes during Tuesday's 96-93 victory over the Clippers in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Exum saw just six minutes off the bench despite an ankle injury to Tim Hardaway. The Mavericks opted to go with size over speed, resulting in an important victory. With so much flexibility across their roster, Exum's role could fluctuate significantly moving forward.

2h agoDoncic chipped in 32 points (11-26 FG, 5-14 3Pt, 5-6 FT), six rebounds, nine assists, one block and one steal over 46 minutes during Tuesday's 96-93 win over the Clippers in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Doncic carried Dallas to victory Tuesday despite struggling from the field. In a low-scoring affair, Doncic hit several crucial buckets down the stretch, much like he has done all season. They will now return home for what will be a pivotal Game 3. Look for Doncic to put on a show in front of his home fans.

2h agoGafford logged zero points (0-3 FG), one rebound and one assist in nine minutes during Tuesday's 96-93 victory over the Clippers in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Gafford got the starting nod but managed just nine minutes in the victory. Given the Mavericks' depth at the center position, Gafford's role is likely to hinge on individual matchups and his on-court production. With the series now level at 1-1, Dallas will head home as they attempt to seize the upper hand.

3h agoCole picked up an assist and added two hits in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Predators in Game 2.
Cole snapped a five-game point drought when he set up a Nikita Zadorov tally in the second period. The 35-year-old Cole is unlikely to produce much offense in the playoffs, but he should be able to maintain a bottom-four role on the blue line. He had 11 points, 166 blocked shots, 83 hits, 61 shots on net and 61 PIM over 78 regular-season appearances.

Phillip Di Giuseppe VAN LWCanucks' Phil Di Giuseppe: Offers helper in loss
3h agoDi Giuseppe registered an assist and six hits in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Predators in Game 2.
Di Giuseppe didn't play much down the stretch, but he's been in the lineup over Vasily Podkolzin and Nils Aman through two playoff contests. In 51 regular-season outings, Di Giuseppe registered 10 points, 52 shots on net, 36 PIM and 94 hits. He'll likely stay in a bottom-six role during the postseason, if he's able to maintain his place in the lineup.

Nikita Zadorov VAN DCanucks' Nikita Zadorov: Nets lone goal in Game 2 loss
3h agoZadorov scored a goal on two shots, added two PIM and logged four hits in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Predators in Game 2.
Zadorov had gone 12 games without a goal, picking up three assists in that span. The 29-year-old defenseman got the Canucks on the board in the second period, but they couldn't form a comeback. He's earned two points five shots on net, nine hits and three blocked shots over two playoff contests while playing in a bottom-four role.

Casey DeSmith VAN GCanucks' Casey DeSmith: Takes loss Tuesday
3h agoDeSmith allowed three goals on 15 shots in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Predators in Game 2. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.
Thatcher Demko (undisclosed) is out of action, so it's DeSmith's turn in the crease for the Canucks. His first outing was poor -- the Predators were opportunistic with their chances early on and successfully bunkered down in the third period to hold the lead. DeSmith was mediocre in the regular season with a 12-9-6 record, a 2.89 GAA and an .895 save percentage over 29 appearances. He'll need more help from the team in front of him as the series shifts to Nashville for Game 3 on Friday and Game 4 on Sunday.

Zucker has a goal and an assist over two playoff contests, already more offense than he had in his last eight regular-season outings (one goal). The 32-year-old winger looks set to stay in a middle-six role during the postseason. He should also see some power-play time, but the strength of the Predators' top line makes it tough to rely on their depth forwards for scoring.

Nyquist set up Filip Forsberg's second-period tally, which was the game-winner. The 34-year-old Nyquist is playing the role of a steady playmaker on the top line -- he has two helpers through two playoff contests, and he's earned a goal and five assists over his last five appearances. He should continue to see ample ice time at even strength and on the power play, giving him plenty of chances to chip in with offense.
