Austin Corbett CAR OG
Panthers' Austin Corbett: Returns to action
2h agoCorbett (knee) participated during Tuesday's voluntary workout, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Corbett closed out the 2023 campaign on IR after suffering a knee injury in a Week 11 loss to the Cowboys. His ability to take part in drills Tuesday suggests the Nevada product's knee is well healed as Carolina begins preparation for the upcoming season.
-
Amare Barno CAR LB
Panthers' Amare Barno: Still dealing with injury
2h agoBarno (knee) is not participating in voluntary workouts Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Barno finished out the 2023 campaign on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury Week 16 against the Packers. Although it's not clear what specifically the injury was or how much longer it may affect him, it appears to still be a big enough issue that the Virginia Tech product is not taking part in drills. Luckily, for the Barno and the Panthers, training camp is still about three months away.
-
Isaiah Rodgers PHI CB
Eagles' Isaiah Rodgers: Restrictions lifted
2h agoRodgers was reinstated by the NFL on Tuesday after he was suspended for the 2023 season for violating the NFL's gambling policy, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Rodgers was originally suspended in June of 2023 after making bets on NFL games, which led to him being waived by the Colts. Despite the suspension, the UMass product inked a new deal with the Eagles two months later. With his suspension lifted, Rodgers will now be able to participate in all team activities for the first time since he signed with Philadelphia.

Patrick Surtain II DEN CB
Broncos' Patrick Surtain: Has fifth-year option picked up
2h agoThe Broncos picked up the fifth-year option on Surtain's rookie contract Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The ninth overall pick in the 2021 Draft, Surtain so far has met expectations in his three-year career, earning back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances the last two seasons and even first-team All-Pro honors in his second campaign. Overall, he has seven interceptions among 36 pass defenses in 50 regular-season contests while averaging 63.6 tackles per 17 games played, making him a respectable option in IDP formats. With Tuesday's transaction, Surtain now is locked in in Denver through the 2025 season.
-
Shaq Green-Thompson CAR OLB
Panthers' Shaq Thompson: Back on field
2h agoThompson (lower leg) is participating during voluntary workouts Tuesday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Thompson fractured his fibula Week 2 against the Saints, which sidelined the veteran linebacker for the remainder of the 2023 campaign. His ability to take part in drills Tuesday would suggest the 30-year-old has moved past the injury and is fully healthy as the Panthers begin early preparation for the upcoming season.
-
D.J. Wonnum CAR LB
Panthers' D.J. Wonnum: Still sidelined
2h agoWonnum (quadriceps) is missing voluntary workouts Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Wonnum is still on the mend after surgery to repair his quadriceps, which he injured during Week 16 of last season. The South Carolina product inked a deal with the Panthers in March, so although it seems the franchise is not worried about his injury, it's not clear yet when he'll be ready to participate in the team's offseason programs.

Merrill Kelly ARI SP
Diamondbacks' Merrill Kelly: Heads to 15-day IL
1m agoThe Diamondbacks placed Kelly on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to April 20, with a right shoulder strain.
Kelly was diagnosed with a teres major strain of his right shoulder following his initial MRI Sunday. He was scheduled to start Sunday's series finale in San Francisco, but was scratched after experiencing discomfort prior to the game. The Diamondbacks were initially hopeful that the 35-year-old would avoid a 15-day shutdown, but the feeling changed Monday. The starting pitcher will be eligible to return May 5.
-
Landen Roupp SF RP
Giants' Landen Roupp: Optioned to Triple-A
1m agoThe Giants optioned Roupp to Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Roupp will be pushed off the big-league roster following the acquisition of Mitch White from Toronto. Roupp allowed five earned runs across 10.1 innings during his first career stint in the majors and could return later in the year to give San Francisco's bullpen a fresh arm if needed.
-
Jason Heyward LAD RF
Dodgers' Jason Heyward: Not taking swings
9m agoDodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that Heyward (back) is still experiencing "residual soreness" and isn't yet swinging a bat, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
The veteran outfielder hoped to return when first eligible after he landed on the 10-day injured list April 3 with back soreness, but he's still having issues nearly three weeks later. Heyward will need some time to build back up once cleared to swing before starting a rehab assignment, so he's likely at least a few weeks away from rejoining the Dodgers.
-
Kris Bryant COL DH
Rockies' Kris Bryant: No baseball work yet
25m agoRockies manager Bud Black said Tuesday that Bryant (back) is not participating in baseball activities and won't be reinstated from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Wednesday, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.
There apparently isn't much concern about the back strain being a serious issue since Bryant hasn't been sent for medical imaging, but the lower-back strain will still keep him sidelined for the near future. The 32-year-old doesn't have an official timeline for his return and should be considered out indefinitely until he resumes baseball activities.
-
Brandon Drury LAA 2B
Angels' Brandon Drury: Absent from lineup again
28m agoDrury is not in the lineup versus the Orioles on Tuesday.
Drury took a seat in Monday's game versus the Orioles after returning to the lineup Friday. The second baseman was dealing with a hamstring injury prior to playing in all three contests of the weekend against the Reds. This marks the second consecutive game he will not start with Luis Rengifo starting at second and batting eighth Tuesday.
-
Mike Trout LAA CF
Angels' Mike Trout: Batting leadoff
36m agoTrout is the leadoff hitter Tuesday versus the Orioles.
Trout is at the top of the lineup for the first time since Aug. 25, 2020. He has been struggling over the last seven games, slashing just .111/.250/.222. Prior to the slump, the 32-year-old had a solid batting average at .290. In Monday night's loss to Baltimore, Trout struck out looking for the final out with the bases loaded in a two run game. Placing the center fielder at the top of the lineup may be a way to regain a spark.
-
Grayson Allen PHO SG
Suns' Grayson Allen: Good to go for Game 2
11m agoAllen (ankle) is available for Tuesday's Game 2 against the Timberwolves, Gerald Bourguet of GoPHNX.com reports.
Allen has been upgraded from questionable to available Tuesday despite dealing with a right ankle sprain. The 28-year-old guard failed to make a three in Game 1 but shot 46.1 percent on 5.9 three-point attempts per contest during the regular season. Allen won't operate on a minutes restriction.
-
Giannis Antetokounmpo MIL PF
Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo: Officially ruled out
2h agoAntetokounmpo (calf) has been ruled out for Tuesday's Game 2 against the Pacers.
As expected, Antetokounmpo has been downgraded from doubtful to out while he continues to recover from a left soleus strain. Without their star player, the Bucks were able to win Game 1 behind a stellar first-half performance from Damian Lillard, affording Antetokounmpo some extra rest, but if Milwaukee drops Game 2 at home, there may be added pressure for the MVP candidate to return Friday, when the series shifts to Indiana for Game 3.
-
Zion Williamson NO PF
Pelicans' Zion Williamson: Hopeful to return in postseason
2h agoWilliamson (hamstring), who will be re-evaluated in one week, says it is "realistic" he returns in the postseason, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
Williamson exited the Pelicans' first Play-In Tournament game against the Lakers with a hamstring strain and has not played since. However, Williamson says he is hopeful to eventually make his postseason return, which would likely require a second-round matchup. Despite not having Williamson available for Game 1 against the top-seeded Thunder, the Pelicans kept it close, losing 94-92. How quickly the medical staff clears him may depend on how the remainder of the series plays out.
-
Terry Rozier MIA SG
Heat's Terry Rozier: Won't suit up Wednesday
3h agoRozier (neck) has been ruled out for Wednesday's Game 2 against the Celtics, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
Rozier will now miss his eighth straight game, and it is unclear whether the team will look to rush him back for the remainder of the series without Jimmy Butler (knee). The 30-year-old is considered week-to-week and against the Celtics, so it would not come as a surprise for Rozier to miss the entirety of the series. With Rozier out, Delon Wright, Duncan Robinson and Patty Mills are all likely candidates to see an uptick in playing time.
-
Kawhi Leonard LAC SF
Clippers' Kawhi Leonard: Present at shootaround
4h agoLeonard (knee) is officially listed as questionable but was present for the Clippers' morning shootaround before Tuesday's Game 2 against the Mavericks, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.com
Leonard was ruled out for Sunday's Game 1 win, his ninth consecutive absence, but has a chance to return Tuesday. The Clippers will likely decide the veteran's availability closer to the 10 p.m. ET tipoff after seeing how he fares in pregame warmups. If Leonard is ruled out again, expect Terance Mann and Amir Coffey to pick up extra minutes.
-
Michael Porter Jr. DEN SF
Nuggets' Michael Porter: Goes for 22 points in Game 2
7h agoPorter totaled 22 points (8-13 FG, 6-10 3Pt), nine rebounds, one assist and two steals in 38 minutes during Monday's 101-99 victory over the Lakers in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Porter sniffed a double-double for the second consecutive game after delivering a 19-point, eight-rebound effort in Game 1 on Saturday, and the forward continues to impact both ends of the court for Denver. Even though he doesn't get the same attention as Nikola Jokic or Jamal Murray, Porter is a key piece in the Nuggets' offensive scheme, and he's averaging 16.2 points with 7.3 rebounds per game in April, including regular-season contests.
-
Max Comtois CAR LW
Hurricanes' Max Comtois: Brought up from AHL
10m agoComtois was summoned from AHL Chicago on Tuesday.
Comtois accumulated 19 goals, 44 points and 109 PIM in 65 AHL contests during the 2023-24 campaign. He also picked up an assist and logged 13:04 of ice time in Carolina's regular-season finale against Columbus last Tuesday. If the Hurricanes stay healthy, Comtois probably won't see any game action in the playoffs
-
Antti Raanta CAR G
Hurricanes' Antti Raanta: Back in NHL
12m agoRaanta was promoted from AHL Chicago on Tuesday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
The Hurricanes already have three goalies on the roster, so Raanta's chances of playing in the postseason are incredibly low. Raanta struggled in 24 games with the Hurricanes this season, and he was a touch worse with a 2-2-4 record, a 3.54 GAA and an .873 save percentage in eight contests with the Wolves after he was sent down.
-
Dylan Coghlan CAR D
Hurricanes' Dylan Coghlan: Returns to NHL
14m agoCoghlan was called up from AHL Springfield on Tuesday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Coghlan's season with AHL Springfield is over, so he'll now serve as defensive depth for the Hurricanes during their playoff run. He had three shots on goal, three blocked shots and a minus-2 rating in his lone NHL appearance this season.
-
Philip Broberg EDM D
Oilers' Philip Broberg: Returned to AHL
1h agoBroberg was loaned to AHL Bakersfield on Tuesday.
Broberg has been up and down from the minors recently. He was a healthy scratch for Edmonton's 7-4 win over the Kings on Monday in Game 1. With Bakersfield set to open a best-of-three playoff series versus Ontario on Wednesday, Broberg may stay in the AHL to see some game action.
-
Chris Wagner COL RW
Avalanche's Chris Wagner: Hits waivers
4h agoWagner was placed on waivers Tuesday, per CapFriendly.
Wagner will probably remain with the Avalanche for Tuesday's Game 2 matchup versus Winnipeg. He will likely serve as a healthy scratch for a second straight outing. Wagner had one goal, one assist, 16 shots on net and 30 hits in 13 NHL contests during the 2023-24 regular season.
-
Igor Shesterkin NYR G
Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Slated to start Game 2
4h agoShesterkin is expected to guard the crease for Tuesday's Game 2 home matchup with Washington, Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today reports.
Shesterkin is riding a three-game winning streak during which he has posted a 0.98 GAA, .963 save percentage and one shutout. While Jonathan Quick has been a capable backup this year, securing 18 wins in 27 appearances, the 28-year-old Shesterkin should remain firmly cemented in the starting role throughout the postseason.
