Kaiir Elam BUF CB
Bills' Kaiir Elam: Ready for next step?
1h agoElam, who missed most of the 2023 regular season due to an ankle injury and coaching decisions, finished with 14 total tackles over three regular-season games.
Elam did appear in both of the Bills' playoff games, though he was limited to special teams in the divisional-round loss to the Chiefs. So far in his young career, Elam's output in two NFL seasons hasn't come close to matching his first-round status, but the Bills had to let several secondary members move on this season and will likely spend one of their high picks on receiver, so Elam may be earmarked for a more prominent role in 2024 even if he's not a starter just yet. Some comments from team brass in the offseason have indicated the Bills are hopeful Elam is ready to make that jump in performance.

Cody Davis NE DB
Cody Davis: Hangs up cleats
8h agoDavis announced his retirement from the NFL on Thursday, Chris Mason of Masslive.com reports.
Davis played 11 NFL seasons, spending five years with the Rams, two with the Jaguars and the final four of his career with the Patriots. The 34-year-old primarily played on special teams and hadn't played a defensive snap since 2020. He'll finish his career with 118 combined tackles, two interceptions and three fumbles recovered.

Olamide Zaccheaus PHI WR
Commanders' Olamide Zaccheaus: Moving on to Washington
8h agoZaccheaus has agreed to a deal with the Commanders, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
In his only campaign with the Eagles, Zaccheaus (who caught 40 passes with the Falcons in 2022) finished the 2023 regular season with 10 catches for 164 yards and two TDs in 17 games. With the Commanders, the 26-year-old will add depth to a wideout corps that is currently led by Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson. In that context, Zaccheaus has some bounce-back potential if he can carve out steady snaps in 2024 behind the team's top duo.

DeShawn Williams BUF DE
Bills' DeShawn Williams: Lands in Buffalo
11h agoThe Bills signed Williams to a one-year contract Thursday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
Williams suited up for 16 regular-season games with the Panthers last season, a span in which he racked up 33 tackles (13 solo) and one sack. He stands to bolster Buffalo's defensive line as a depth piece for the 2024 season.

Jayden Daniels 2005 QB
Jayden Daniels: Throws at LSU Pro Day
11h agoDaniels, who opted to not throw at the NFL Scouting Combine, did so at LSU's Pro Day on Wednesday, Eric Edholm of NFL.com reports.
Per the report, Daniels, who measured in at 6-foot-3⅝, 210 pounds, was slated to spend time afterward with the Patriots, Commanders, Giants, Vikings, Broncos and Raiders. As next month's draft approaches, the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner is viewed as one of the top options at the QB position along with USC's Caleb Williams, North Carolina's Drake Maye and Michigan's J.J. McCarthy. While Williams is expected to be selected first overall, where Daniels lands remains to be seen, though what is clear is that the top four signal-callers figure to come off the board quickly, in any case.

Josiah Deguara JAC TE
Jaguars' Josiah Deguara: Inking with Jacksonville
14h agoThe Jaguars are slated to sign Deguara to a one-year contract, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports.
Deguara spent the last four seasons handling a depth role in Green Bay, where he was drafted in the third round back in 2020. His versatility both as a blocker and on special teams will boost his chances of earning playing time behind Evan Engram, but Deguara peaked with a 25-245-2 receiving line in 2021 and doesn't appear to have much fantasy potential.

Anthony Santander BAL RF
Orioles' Anthony Santander: Drives in four
7m agoSantander went 1-for-4 with a home run and four RBI on Thursday against the Angels.
Santander drove in Baltimore's first run of the season on a fielder's choice in the first inning. However, he did his biggest damage three frames later, when he took Jose Suarez yard for a two-run homer -- his first of the season. Santander has hit at least 28 home runs in each of the last two campaigns and should remain an excellent source of counting stats in 2024.
-
Cedric Mullins BAL CF
Orioles' Cedric Mullins: Tallies first homer
18m agoMullins went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run Thursday against the Angels.
Mullins dropped to seventh in the lineup with left Patrick Sandoval starting on the mound, though it didn't hurt his production on Opening Day. He took Jose Cisnero deep in the seventh frame to tally his first homer of the season and to cap off an 11-run outburst for the Orioles. Mullins posted a .183 ISO across 116 games in 2023 and remains a strong power-speed threat.

Mitch Keller PIT SP
Pirates' Mitch Keller: Struggles in no-decision
28m agoKeller allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks over 5.2 innings during Thursday's Opening Day win at Miami. He struck out three.
Keller threw 61 of his 85 pitches for strikes but he was not sharp as the Miami bats seemed to have a beat on him all game. The Pittsburgh righty who signed a five-year contract extension in the offseason left with a three-run deficit, but the Pirates were able to grind their way back into the game, eventually earning the victory and taking Keller off the hook. Expect Keller to rebound in his next start, scheduled to take place mid-week in Washington against the Nationals.
-
Corbin Burnes BAL SP
Orioles' Corbin Burnes: Victorious in O's debut
29m agoBurnes (1-0) allowed one earned run on one hit and no walks while striking out 11 in Thursday's win over the Angels.
Burnes served up a home run to Mike Trout in the first inning, which accounted for the only baserunner he allowed. All told, he racked up 12 swinging strikes across his 82 total pitches to cruise to his first victory with Baltimore. Burnes tentatively lines up for another favorable matchup in his second outing of the season against the Royals.

Jesus Luzardo MIA SP
Marlins' Jesus Luzardo: Strikes out eight in no-decision
1h agoLuzardo tossed five innings, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks while striking out eight in Thursday's Opening Day loss to Pittsburgh. He did not factor into the decision.
Luzardo allowed a two-run home run to Brian Reynolds but was otherwise unblemished in a solid first start of the season. Manager Skip Schumaker elected to pull Luzardo after 85 pitches through five innings with a three-run cushion, but the bullpen slowly leaked away the lead, finally losing the game in the 12th inning. The lefty is expected to be one of the better starting pitchers in the National League this season and did not disappoint in his first outing on Thursday.

Nick Senzel WAS 3B
Nationals' Nick Senzel: Out 3-to-4 weeks
1h agoNationals manager Dave Martinez said that Senzel is expected to miss 3-to-4 weeks after fracturing his right thumb in during batting practice prior to Thursday's 8-2 loss to the Reds, the Associated Press reports.
Senzel was slated to start at third base and bat eighth in the season opener, but he was scratched from the lineup after suffering the injury when his throwing hand was struck by an errant groundball when one of his teammates was taking BP. Ildemaro Vargas drew the start at third base Thursday, but Vargas could end up moving back into a utility role while the Nationals give a longer look at prospect Trey Lipscomb at the hot corner during Senzel's upcoming absence. Andrew Golden of The Washington Post notes that Lipscomb is set to receive a call-up from Triple-A Rochester ahead of Saturday's game in Cincinnati, with Senzel presumably going on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.

De'Andre Hunter ATL SF
Hawks' De'Andre Hunter: Solid output in starting role
1h agoHunter finished Thursday's 123-122 overtime victory over Boston with 21 points (8-16 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 0-3 FT), 13 rebounds and one assist across 40 minutes.
Hunter has been starting in recent days and delivered another strong showing, as he's taking advantage of the fact that Jalen Johnson (ankle) and Saddiq Bey (knee) are out, with the latter not returning until next season. Hunter has reached the 20-point mark in three of his last five starts while also doing it in five of his previous eight appearances overall.

Bogdan Bogdanovic ATL SG
Hawks' Bogdan Bogdanovic: Puts up 22 points in win Thursday
1h agoBogdanovic closed with 24 points (9-19 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven rebounds, five assists and one steal across 43 minutes during Thursday's 123-122 overtime win over Boston.
Bogdanovic's final stat line seems nice, but he struggled from deep once again, and he's gone 4-for-15 from three-point range over his last two games. He's talented enough to bounce back sooner rather than later, though, and fortunately for him, he's scoring enough to avoid his fantasy stock to make a massive hit now that most leagues are in the playoffs.
-
Dejounte Murray ATL PG
Hawks' Dejounte Murray: Explodes for career-high 44 points
1h agoMurray chipped in 44 points (18-44 FG, 6-19 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, seven assists, one block and two steals in 47 minutes during Thursday's 123-122 overtime victory over the Celtics.
Murray had one of the best games of his career on a night when the Hawks desperately needed him. He delivered by posting a career-best scoring output, and he capped it off by hitting the game-winning shot with less than a second left in overtime. Murray continues to play at an extremely high level in the absence of Trae Young (finger), and he's experiencing quite an uptick as a scorer, recording 28 or more points in four of his last five appearances.

Kristaps Porzingis BOS C
Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Stuffs stat sheet in loss to Hawks
1h agoPorzingis notched 20 points (8-20 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 2-3 FT), seven rebounds, two assists, three blocks and one steal in 41 minutes during Thursday's 123-122 overtime loss to the Hawks.
Porzingis didn't have his best shooting performance and needed 20 shots to score 20 points, but he still found a way to salvage his fantasy stat line due to his contributions in peripheral categories, particularly as a rebounder and defensive anchor down low. Porzingis has reached the 20-point mark in seven of his 12 appearances since the All-Star break, and while he might hold a semi-secondary role on offense behind Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, he remains extremely valuable in fantasy due to his two-way ability and stat-filling capacity.
-
Jayson Tatum BOS PF
Celtics' Jayson Tatum: Scores 31 points in loss to ATL
1h agoTatum had 31 points (9-22 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 11-13 FT), 13 rebounds and six assists across 45 minutes during Thursday's 123-122 overtime loss to the Hawks.
For the second time in less than 10 days, Tatum carried the Celtics against the Hawks, but his efforts were not enough. Tatum has been playing at a very high level all season long, but he seems to be on a scoring tear of late, reaching the 30-point mark in four of his last five contests.
-
Derrick White BOS SG
Celtics' Derrick White: Goes for 22 points in upset loss
1h agoWhite produced 22 points (8-11 FG, 5-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), seven rebounds, five assists and one steal in 41 minutes during Thursday's 123-122 overtime loss to the Hawks.
White returned from a one-game absence and continues to play at an extremely high level in what has been a career-best season for him. He's now scored at least 17 points in each of his last five outings, topping the 20-point mark three times in that stretch. Even though he holds a secondary role in an offense led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, White remains an absolute must-start player in fantasy since he plays a solid two-way role for one of the best teams in the league while also shooting the ball at a very efficient clip from beyond the arc.

Pavel Buchnevich STL LW
Blues' Pavel Buchnevich: Scores twice in win
3m agoBuchnevich scored a pair of goals in Thursday's 5-3 victory over the Flames.
Buchnevich tallied the eventual game-winning goal midway through the second period, beating Dustin Wolf on the power play to put the Blues ahead 3-2. The 28-year-old winger would add a second marker with an empty-netter in the third, capping the St. Louis win. Buchnevich had gone 13 games without a goal before Thursday's contest, though he'd recorded seven assists in his previous five games. Buchnevich now has 26 goals and 58 points through 71 games this season.
-
Leon Draisaitl EDM C
Oilers' Leon Draisaitl: Point streak at six games
3m agoDraisaitl had three assists in Thursday's 4-1 win over Los Angeles.
Thursday's three-point effort brings Draisaitl's point streak to six games. Though, it did end his five-game goal streak. During that fun, he's posted five goals and 10 points. If your roster needs offensive production, he's one of the most reliable players in the league with 38 goals and 96 points through 71 games this season.
-
Auston Matthews TOR C
Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews: Six-game, 12-point streak
4m agoMatthews (illness) had a game-high 10 shots on goal and an assist in a 5-1 win over the Capitals.
He looked no worse for wear after missing the earlier skate because of illness. Matthews is still waiting on his 60th goal of the season, but was able to extend his scoring streak to six games and 12 points, including four goals.
-
Connor McDavid EDM C
Oilers' Connor McDavid: Three-point effort leads to a win
6m agoMcDavid had a goal and two assists in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Kings.
Thursday's three-point effort gives McDavid six straight multipoint games. He's posted a total of two goals and 16 points in that run. The league's reigning MVP has 27 goals and 122 points through 69 games this season.
-
Tyler Bertuzzi TOR LW
Maple Leafs' Tyler Bertuzzi: Six goals in last seven games
8m agoBertuzzi scored twice Thursday in a 5-1 win over Washington.
Bertuzzi scored his first on an odd play on clean ice just 18 seconds into the second period. He banked a shot off Charlie Lindgren from behind the net to push the Leafs up 2-0. That goal stood as the winner. In the third, Bert topped off the scoring on another odd play when he knocked down a pass attempt from a Caps defender who was skating out from behind the net. He then wired a shot into a gaping net with Lindgren out of position. Bertuzzi has six goals (eight points) in his last seven games, a stark contrast to his one-goal-in-32 games span from the end of Nov. to the middle of Feb.
-
Evan Bouchard EDM D
Oilers' Evan Bouchard: Posts two points in win
10m agoBouchard had a power-play goal and an assist in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Kings.
Bouchard has been on a tear. He has four multipoint nights in his last five games. His torrid pace goes beyond that, though. Over the last nine games, he has one goal, 14 points, 28 shots, and a plus-8 rating. He is making the most of power-play opportunities as well with seven of those 14 points coming on the man advantage.
