Comments: NASCAR Picks for New Hampshire

While five of the 10 tracks in the Chase share a similar layout to Chicagoland Speedway, this weekend's trip to New Hampshire Motor Speedway could have a big impact on deciding the title. After all, the flat, 1.0-mile oval is known for difficult passing conditions, fuel mileage finishes and the occasional rain shower. In fact, the driver leading on the final lap in each of the last two Chase races at the track has run out of fuel and failed to win. With track position being so vital, it tends to force crew chiefs to gamble. The question for the teams in the Chase becomes how much risk to take. Winning Sunday won't win a driver the championship, but playing it too safe or picking the wrong fuel mileage can certainly end a driver's title hopes.

Fantasy owners don't necessarily face the same type of pressure when it comes to making decisions about their lineups this weekend, but they do face similar issues. It is impossible to know the pit strategy each team is planning, and even if you pick a driver with a fast car that leads a ton of laps, you could end up with a finish outside the top 10 if they opt to make an extra stop or a finish outside the top 25 if they try to gamble on fuel and run dry. The best case scenario is that the cautions fall in a way where nearly everyone stays on the same pit cycle, allowing the fastest cars to overcome the smartest strategies.
