Comments: NASCAR Picks for Kansas

Even a trip to a 1.5-mile track like Charlotte last weekend didn't exactly go according to plan. Fuel mileage reeled its ugly head, leading to a surprise victory by Clint Bowyer. Brad Keselowski was the big loser, falling to 11th after running out of gas while trying to stretch a run a few extra laps to reach his window. Keselowski had been dominating much of the race, and instead of celebrating a win, he didn't even get a top-10. It just goes to show that neither drivers nor fantasy owners can feel comfortable in the outcome of the race until the checkered flag waves.

This weekend, the series heads to Kansas Speedway for the second race in a row at a 1.5-mile track. Unfortunately, fuel mileage has had a habit of deciding races at Kansas as well. In fact, Keselowski used fuel mileage to score a win at the track last year, and the victory basically jump started a hot streak that really has yet to end. However, last weekend's race showed that even the best at conserving fuel mess up sometimes, and fantasy owners could be holding their breath in the closing again Sunday as drivers try to squeeze enough drops of fuel to make it to the finish.
