2013 NFL Mock Draft

Round 1 of 2

1. HOU: Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina
It looks like the play is going to be Clowney, who is the most talented player in the class. He and J.J. Watt on the defensive line would be scary.
2. STL: Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn
Jeff Fisher has never drafted an offensive lineman in the first round, but Robinson could force the head coach to make an exception.
3. JAX: Khalil Mack, LB, Buffalo
Clowney may not be available at this point, but Mack is also a master at getting to the quarterback. Speaking of quarterback, don't rule out the Jags going in that direction.
4. CLE: Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M
The Browns also have the 26th pick so they could wait for a quarterback, but Manziel at No. 4 would provide the splash Cleveland desperately needs. Sammy Watkins is also an option.
5. OAK: Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson
Watkins and Manziel are the most electrifying offensive players in the draft. Chances are good that Oakland will get one of the two.
6. ATL: Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M
Atlanta is rumored to have interest in trading up for Clowney, but it is in desperation mode for an offensive tackle. Either Robinson or Matthews would be a great fit for the Falcons.
7. TB: Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M
Tampa Bay could go in a number of different directions here, including linebacker Anthony Barr. Evans, however, is a physical specimen at receiver and the Bucs need that kind of explosiveness on offense.
8. MIN: Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida
Minnesota's quarterback quandary has long been a problem and it's safe to say Christian Ponder is not the answer. If Bortles is still available, the Vikings would do well to snatch him up.
9. BUF: Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan
Lewan's stock is rising and he may even challenge Robinson and Matthews among offensive tackles. The Bills need help at many places and their front five is no exception.
10. DET: Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State
Detroit's main weakness is the defensive secondary. It has some solid defenders up front and skill-position stars abound on offense, so this pick makes sense.
11. TEN: Anthony Barr, LB, UCLA
Barr could go off the board to the Falcons or Bucs, but Tennessee won't mind if that turns out not to be the case. He may be the best defensive player available aside from Clowney and Mack.
12. NYG: Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh
The Giants need help in the middle of their defense, both on the line and at linebacker. Donald's stock is on a serious rise right now and he looks like the best defensive tackle available.
13. STL: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama
Alabama stars will be selected early and often, Clinton-Dix among them. St. Louis is good up front but lacking in the secondary, so this would be a good move with its second pick of the first round.
14. CHI: Timmy Jernigan, DT, Florida State
Jernigan ran out of gas during the National Championship, but his absence at least showed how important he was to Florida State's defense. He is one of the two best defensive tackles in this class.
15. PIT: Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State
Dennard won the Jim Thorpe Award as college football's best cornerback and he also fits a need in Pittsburgh.
16. DAL: C.J. Mosley, LB, Alabama
Mosley may be the best athlete in the entire draft class, so he will be tough to pass up. Dallas must improve its pass rush, although it will also take a look at an offensive lineman.
