2007 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Kenny Irons, RB, Auburn

Irons is an extremely talented running back, but it's hard to imagine him being an every-down back in the NFL anytime soon. He enters the draft surrounded by two primary concerns: size and durability. At 5-11, 203 pounds, Irons has a decent frame, but definitely needs to get bigger and stronger. He had a monster year for Auburn in 2005, but he was plagued by minor injuries throughout his senior campaign and never fulfilled his massive potential. Irons also needs to work on catching passes out of the backfield. As a pure runner, however, Irons is outstanding. He hits the whole extremely hard, can make defenders miss, and has good breakaway speed. He ran a 4.45 at the combine, good enough for fifth among backs eligible for this year's draft. Irons looked like a first rounder heading into his senior year, but it's looking like second or third round now.
