2014 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Stephon Tuitt, DL , Notre Dame

Tuitt was a three-year standout with the Fighting Irish who really came into his own in 2012, the year Notre Dame made it to the BCS National Championship game. It's important to note that Tuitt is not your prototypical 4-3 DE. One look at his measurables and that should be clear. He will play defensive end in a 3-4, often referred to as the "five-technique."

Average pass rusher. Mostly responsible for taking on double teams and if possible, collapsing the pocket to give someone else an opportunity to make the play. Must learn to better use his size by working on his bend and pad level. Very stiff at times and doesn't drive the necessary power through his legs and butt. Hand usage is above-average and can move blockers off their spot with a punch. Plays with a nice intensity. Earned a lot of respect for not giving up or taking plays off in championship game.

Better against the run. Can anchor down. Sets the edge well. Occasionally will break a block early and make a play in the backfield. Speed and quickness are lacking and this may prevent him from drawing much interest from 4-3 defenses. Excellent upper body strength. Limited athletic ceiling may push him toward the bottom of the first round.

Tuitt projects as a Top 25 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
