2007 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Zach Miller, TE, Arizona State
Perhaps no player saw his stock take more of a beating at the NFL combine than former Arizona State tight end Zach Miller. Miller and Miami's Greg Olsen seemed to be jostling for tight end supremacy, but while Olsen blew scouts away, Miller ran a slow forty-yard dash and was unable to lift weights due to injury. His stock is not all the way back up quite yet, but he did run better (4.74) at ASU's pro day and looked great catching passes. Miller is your prototypical pass-catching tight end. He runs great routes and can catch just about anything in his vicinity. He also shows great technique and effort in blocking, but he is just not big and bulky enough to really pancake any defensive linemen. Of course, 6-4 and 256 pounds is not exactly "small." Olsen will be the first tight end taken in the NFL Draft, and Miller or Ben Patrick will be the second. Miller should be a second-rounder, but could slip to the third depending on team needs.
