2008 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
SirDarean Adams, OLB, Michigan State
SirDarean Adams of Michigan State has been extremely productive during his four year college career. The senior has played in 46 games during his time as a Spartan. Adams missed 2 games due to injury this past season, but still registered 47 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions, and broke up 1 pass in coverage. At 6'0" and 230 lbs., he isn't the biggest linebacker in this year's draft. Adams has, however, held up well against the big powerful offenses of the Big Ten. During Adams' three years as a starter for Michigan State, he has accumulated 153 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, 7 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, and broken up 9 passes in coverage. He played often on special teams during his collegiate career, playing on return coverage teams, and even blocking a kick during his freshman season. Adams is probably not quite big enough, not quite fast enough, or not quite strong enough to be a top notch NFL starter. He will, however, make an excellent backup outside linebacker for a pro franchise. He could prove to be an excellent addition to some team's special teams, because of his hustle and work ethic. Adams could turn out to be a late round steal for somebody on draft day if he can improve his speed and strength during the off season.
