Lionel Dotson Scouting Report
|Height & Weight:||6'4 - 288 lbs.|
2008 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Lionel Dotson, DE, Arizona
Dotson played defensive tackle for the Arizona Wildcats, but will likely change positions to a defensive end with a team running a 3-4 defensive scheme. At 285 pounds, he is not big enough to play the defensive tackle position in the NFL. He has an explosive first step and frequently shoots into the backfield to disrupt plays in the backfield. Dotson does a good job rushing the quarterback, using his good upper-body strength and quickness in pursuit. There is some concern about his ability to play against the run when teams run right at him. He has a tendency to get swallowed up when bigger tackles with good footwork block him in the run game. Dotson has great agility and uses many pass rushing moves with success to pursue the quarterback. He has excellent overall athleticism. Dotson is a player who will take a few years for a team to develop, but he has great instincts and a good motor and will likely make a team very happy after a few years of development. Dotson is a second day player.
