2008 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Adam Kraus, OL, Michigan

Adam Kraus had a good career for the Michigan Wolverines. Kraus was part of an experienced offensive line, that along with teammate Jake Long, led Michigan to a 164.9 yards per game rushing average and allowed just 28 sacks in 14 games. Kraus was recruited to come to Michigan as one of the top tight ends in the country. After red shirting his first year on campus, he moved to the offensive line where he has started 35 of 39 career games since. The two time All Big Ten player has lined up at both left and right guard, as well as seeing plenty of time at center. Kraus has quick feet for his size and uses good technique and power while blocking. His experience in Michigan's zone blocking scheme will be a plus to many scouts, as zone blocking is growing in popularity in the NFL. Kraus' ability to play center in a pinch will also make NFL teams take a good hard look, because he can provide depth all along the line. Currently, Kraus is about the seventh guard who may be taken and should be drafted in round 6 or 7. Adam Kraus did not fare as well at the East-West shrine Game as he would have liked. ESPN reports that scouts felt Kraus lacked the lower body strength to be a starter in the NFL. He showed the quick feet many knew he had, but didn't have good range or speed. Kraus didn't preform well when asked to pull on outside runs. This may be because he was adjusting to a more traditional scheme, but it can't have helped his draft stock.
