2009 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Augustus Parrish, OL, Kent State

Parrish played in five games as a true freshman for the Golden Flashes in 2005. In 2006, he became the team's full time left tackle, starting all of the team's eleven games. In his junior campaign in 2007, Parrish started eleven of twelve games for Kent Sate. Parrish is a very big and physical player, with good upper and lower body strength. Drives defenders away from the football. Hard worker and willing to learn. Plays with a chip on his shoulder. Goes all out, all the time. His technique is more advanced than most would think. Has trouble bending his knees. Is slow on his feet (5.26) and lacks coordination when moving to either side. Needs more polish. Was blown away by Ohio State's Vernon Gholston with relative ease. Level of competition is a concern. Parrish is one of the true sleepers in this year's Offensive Tackle class. He is physical enough to play on the left, but because his slowness he would probably be made into a right tackle. He is very tough and extremely intelligent. With a good regular season and an impressive post season, Parrish could climb to the mid-to-late third round. He would definitely play on Sundays. The only question is where.
