2009 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Cornelius Lewis, OL, Tennessee State

Lewis was originally committed to play for Florida State. He did play in eleven games during his redshirt freshman season (all at right guard). Lewis drew a couple of suspensions and eventually was dismissed from the team in January 2006. He then transferred to Tennessee State prior to the 2006 campaign, but did not play that year. In 2007, Lewis started all of the team's eleven games at right tackle. His play earned him second team All Ohio Valley Conferences honors. Lewis is a massive force with superior upper body strength. He is relative fast (5.19) for his size and he mauled the competition last season. He plays with determination and attitude, but is a man playing with boys at Tennessee State. Moves well to the left. Bends his knees with relative ease. Moves well laterally. Is very raw. Mechanics need a lot of work. Needs to work on his lower body strength as well. This is a true man inside. He is big and strong. Lewis has a real opportunity to start as a rookie in the NFL. If he had stayed at Florida State, he could had been a first rounder. As of today, he would probably be drafted in the mid second to early third round. But he is the real deal. Book him as a right guard.
