Tre Mason, RB , Auburn

Mason finished on a high note in 2013, despite Auburn's loss in the National Championship game. The runner ended up breaking many important rushing records at a school known for producing many talented running backs. With a strong combine, he could become one of the first few backs selected in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Mason is a compact back who really hits the hole fast. Always moving and falling forward. A true north-south, decisive runner. Great footwork. Churns through arm tackles. Excellent low center of gravity. Lacks that ideal second gear as a runner so he probably won't break off a lot of big runs. Solid hands as a receiver. Would describe his running style as a "carver." Doesn't try to juke defenders or run them over, instead relies on angles to maximize yardage.

Limited durability concerns. Would be an excellent option in a split backfield. Can contribute on special teams as a returner.

Mason projects as a late second round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Unlikely to see enough carries and playing time to make an immediate impact. Very little redraft value. Definitely a Top 5 rookie RB. Second round pick in dynasty rookie drafts.

Prediction: 2nd Round

War Eagle Tre Mason! The 49ers would make sense as Frank Gore is aging.
