2010 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

DeMarcus Granger, DT, Oklahoma

DeMarcus Granger is one part of the dominating Oklahoma front line. The 6-2, 302 pound defensive tackle worked his way into the regular rotation as a freshman and emerged as a great run stuffer during his sophomore season in 2007. He tallied 8.5 tackles-for-loss and proved to be a quality run stuffer who could also get into the backfield and cause havoc. His 2008 campaign started where he left off in 2007, but any thoughts Granger might have had about entering the NFL draft early took a hit when he went down with a foot injury three games into the season. Fortunately for the Sooners, that means he is back in 2009 for his senior season, but unfortunately he has yet to play a game during his senior campaign due to an August back surgery. The Dallas, Texas native could be a first or second round selection if he can overcome the foot and back injuries. He does not have the size of many defensive tackles in the NFL, but he makes up for it with technique and attitude. However, Granger is running out of time to make an impact and prove that he can stay healthy. If he does not make it back on the field this season, his stock will drop a lot. 1/19 Update: Granger only made a brief appearance this season during the Sun Bowl against Stanford. Those few snaps and three tackles were not nearly enough to prove to scouts that he is injury free. Granger needs to prove that he is healthy before April or he will be a mid-round selection. He has plenty of talent, but few NFL teams will take a chance on him too early with his history of injuries no matter how healthy he seems heading into April.
