Max Unger, OL, Oregon

Unger is a very versatile offensive line prospect from the University of Oregon. He has started every game since setting foot on the Oregon campus, starting his freshman and sophomore seasons at left tackle before switching to center for his junior season. He is listed as a tackle prospect by ESPN, but will likely be a better center in the NFL. He is not a road grading offensive lineman, but he does a good job of using his hands and gets in good position to make blocks. Unger does not have the speed necessary to play the tackle position at the next level. He is a very intelligent players and makes all of the line calls in spite of being relatively new to the position. He has good size and footwork, but lacks foot-speed. NFL teams will love his versatility. When a lineman can play multiple positions, he will become coveted by many teams even if he is not a starter right away in his career. Unger will not hear his name in the first two rounds, because he is not elite enough to be an automatic starter and a "can't-miss" prospect that a player must be to be drafted in the first two rounds as a center. Unger is likely a third or fourth round prospect, but should be a good addition to any NFL team because of his versatility and ability to play multiple positions along the offensive line.
