2014 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person

Antonio Richardson, OL , Tennessee

Blessed with long arms, big hands and a large frame, Richardson passes the eyeball test on the football field. The game isn't about just looking the part though, it's also about playing it. Richardson's strengths are as a run blocker and he has untapped potential in pass protection.

Quickness and agility may be an issue, which could force him to move inside to guard. This would most certainly hurt his draft stock. Most interior linemen are not as tall as Richardson, but there are exceptions to every rule. Realistically, he will be limited to playing right tackle, which is what will ultimately push him down a round for some teams. Can quickly get set to pass protect, but lumbers a bit in zone schemes. Can smother defenders. Will sometimes allow defenders too far inside, which will compromise his balance and cause him to collapse on his quarterback.

Worked hard to lose weight before his final season. Displays a consistent mean streak that offensive line coaches will love. Some feel he may need a year to learn to play at the next level. Uses his heavy hands very well to dictate the action. Good use of leverage and bends well at the hips and knees. Reaction time to defenders' pass rush moves looks a half beat too slow.

Richardson projects as a third round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, but could go late in the second if teams are confident he can play on the interior.
