2009 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Robert Henson, OLB, TCU

Henson enrolled at Texas Christian University (TCU) in the spring of 2004. He did not play in 2004 because of his redshirt status. In 2005, Henson started two of the team's twelve games, recording 69 tackles with 8.5 of them for loss. Besides playing linebacker, Henson was one of TCU's main special teams performers. His play earned him an All Mountain West Conference honorable mention -- a feat he managed to repeat the following two seasons. In 2006, the local Texas product recorded 64 tackles, with 7.5 for loss. He also blocked his first punt to go along with his first true sack. As a junior, Henson went on to record his first career interception while at the same time recording 66 tackles. The 2008's regular season saw Henson record a career high of 73 tackles while starting all of the team's twelve games. Henson is a natural athlete with great agility and speed (4.61). He moves fluidly and has excellent lateral range. He lacks upper the body strength to take on double teams, and also lacks pass rushing skills. Struggling to shed blockers, Henson also tends to over pursue against the run. He has also missed some tackles and he needs to work on his fundamentals. Henson is a good athlete with decent speed for the position. His lack of bulk will hurt him, but he does have a chance to move into the later stages of the Draft. As of today, he is strictly a special teams player with limited LB instincts.
