2014 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person

Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Florida State

Benjamin would be an excellent fit on a team that already possesses two solid starters at wide receiver. This would allow him the necessary time to develop his skills for one full season. Benjamin has all the potential in the world; however, his skill-set is very raw and currently relies too much on athleticism and size.

Huge for a wide receiver. Will be a nightmare matchup in and around the end zone as he is also blessed with a huge wingspan. Route-running is barely developed at all and needs a ton of work. Deceptive speed, long strides. Could become a serious talent if improving upon his ability to get off the line and use his hands effectively to make the most of the five-yard bump. Unreal length, solid vertical.

Below-average focus when it comes to securing the catch. Will sometimes bobble an easy reception. Average hands. Does well to high point the ball. Needs to learn to catch with his hands and not allow the ball into his frame more consistently. Rarely comes back to the football.

Benjamin rates as a late first to mid second rounder in the 2014 NFL Draft.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Draft stock on a slight decline due to some concerns about overall athleticism. Very raw and not expected to come in and dominate early. Benjamin will be limited to a red zone target as a rookie. Could push for more playing late in first season. Will be lucky if he is the No. 2 WR in his first year.

Prediction: 2nd Round

Painful to make my first comment about this guy since he made the catch to beat my Auburn Tigers in the title game, but he reminds me a ton of Alshon Jeffery. I think he'll go early in Round 2 and provide Round 1 value.
