2014 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Bashaud Breeland, CB, Clemson

Breeland anchored Clemson's defense and helped steer his Tigers to a 11-2 record. The 5-foot-11 junior came into his own in 2013 and may sneak into the second round in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Breeland is a smooth athlete with average footwork. A bit loose in the hips and will sometimes open up his hips too early. This allows receivers to put their foot in the ground, change direction and expose the defense to big plays. Adequate height, yet still very physical against larger receivers. Good arm length (31 3/4 in.) and above-average leaper. Can mirror well in man coverage. Very good instincts in zone coverage. Watches the quarterback a little too much but this did sometimes lead to turnovers or pass break-ups.

Good press technique and more than willing to take on blockers. Looks to win one-on-one battles consistently. A bit wild in his tackling technique. Could do a much better job wrapping up and bringing goes to the ground. Average speed, but he plays faster than his combine numbers suggest.

Breeland projects as a late second to early third round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
