2009 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person

Andy Levitre, OL, Oregon State

Levitre's stock was rising before a somewhat mediocre Senior Bowl practice and game. A two year starter at Oregon State, Levitre has the experience to contribute right away in the NFL. He was once projected to be a tackle prospect, but his poor showing against faster and more athletic defensive linemen doomed that possibility. His lackluster performance in the practices leading up to the all star classic also served to expose his biggest deficiency: lack of agility. Levitre has a good football frame with room to add bulk and strength. He is a natural run blocker at this stage of his development, but is more of a positional blocker (which was probably why he was tried at T). His pass blocking skills are very raw, and his lack of footwork was painfully obvious at the Senior Bowl. Levitre struggles to sustain his blocks; he has good initial quickness, but is inconsistent when setting up. Despite his slight frame base, Levitre has trouble reaching the second level due to a lack of speed (5.25). He also does not bend his knees very well. Levitre is an NFL caliber run blocker who will need time and more experience to improve his pass protection technique. He will probably hear his name called early in round three.
