2010 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Mike Johnson, OG, Alabama

Johnson has been a stalwart of Alabama's offensive line ever since arriving in Tuscaloosa in 2006. He played in all 13 games during his freshman season and he has started every single contest ever since the beginning of his sophomore campaign. As a junior in 2008, Johnson helped pave the way for a Crimson Tide rushing attack that averaged 184.6 yards per game as Alabama appeared in both the SEC Championship and the Sugar Bowl. Johnson was named to the All-SEC Second Team by both the Associated Press and the conference's coaches. Even greater success was achieved in 2009. The Tide averaged 215.9 rushing yards per game while going undefeated en route to the SEC title and a berth in the BCS National Championship. Johnson and the offensive line allowed just 1.15 sacks per game and helped running back Mark Ingram rack up 1542 yards and 15 touchdowns on 249 carries (6.2 average). A versatile lineman who can play both guard and tackle, Johnson started 12 games at left guard in 2008 and also started two games at left tackle when eventual 2009 first-round pick Andre Smith was injured. Johnson has good size at 6'5' and 305 pounds, albeit not to the extent of some of the mammoth left tackles in the NFL. He does not project as a left tackle, anyway, as he sometimes struggles in pass-blocking situations. His lateral movement is not excellent, but he is explosive off the ball and he has been clocked as fast as 5.22 in the 40-yard dash. An outstanding run-blocker, Johnson should be able to play both guard positions or right tackle at the next level. He should go off the board no later than the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft, and it would not be shocking to see him sneak into round two.

Prediction: 5th Round

He may be the offensive lineman steal of the draft...Tremendously under rated and over looked.
