2010 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Ryan Perrilloux, QB, Jacksonville State

Perrilloux' once promising career at LSU took a nose dive following several team rule violations that ultimate led to his expulsion from the team. After toying with several options, he ended up starting for Jacksonville State.Perrilloux had a solid 2009, throwing for 2,345 yards (138-236) with 23 TDs and only 2 interceptions; also running for 443 yards and 8 TDs. A true quarterback prospect who can only dream of 'what if', Perrilloux is a bigger and more polished version of former Oregon great, Dennis Dixon. He has a good football frame with a live arm, and is an elite athlete with the speed (4.65) to make something happen on the outside. Perrilloux throws well on the run, and puts good zip on deep balls -- he is surprisingly accurate beyond the 15 yard range. He sports above average football intelligence, which makes his past behavior that much more puzzling. He is a major character risk. Ryan Perrilloux lacks patience in the pocket, and his mechanics need work. He does struggle to read complex defenses, locking too often on his primary target. Slow moving through his progression, Perrilloux' level of competition is a concernDespite Perrilloux' amazing skills, there is simply too much of a risk associated with him for an NFL team to take a chance on him before the sixth or seventh round; Some teams won't even look at him.

Prediction: 4th Round

Many focus on the young man's "character risk", but to those closest to Ryan know what kind of person he really is, despite what the "experts" may think. His biggest downfall has been the company around him. Yes, if he would have gone to Texas his talents would have been showcased. As a true competitor, the young man did not want to sit on the bench. (I don't think any true competitor would be satisfied with that arrangement). Before he changed his commitment to LSU, his plan was to go to Texas, redshirt while Vince Young completed his time at Texas and be ready to step in at Young's departure. I, for one, would have preferred to see him maintain his commitment to Texas because it was obviously well thought out.
Talent-wise, I have watched this young man since his high school days and his is a pro-caliber quarterback. No one has mentioned his performances at the Mannings Passing Academy and other camps in which he participated. I believe that if Ryan is given a fair chance, he can become a good NFL quarterback and will surprise many in the long run. Limiting that circle of friends and acquaintances will be his biggest challenge (which I believe he can manage much better now, than his days at LSU).

Prediction: Undrafted

Too many red flags and follows a negative draft trend. Longshot to get out of a camp not cut.
