2010 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Jacob Hickman, C, Nebraska

Jacob Hickman was not the most highly touted offensive lineman to ever suit up for Nebraska, so nobody expected much from the 6-4 center in 2006. After seeing some playing time early in the year against inferior non-conference opponents, Hickman was forced into action against Oklahoma State and did a superb job. That earned him a starting role the following week, becoming just the second offensive lineman to start a game for the Cornhuskers as a true freshman since 1972. The following season he started the final nine games of the year at left guard after being slowed early in the campaign due to a knee injury. His stellar play earned him Honorable Mention All-Big 12 accolades by the coaches. That was an award he would once again earn in 2008 after moving to the center spot. It was Hickman who was the anchor of the line and provided Nebraska with a surprisingly effective offense. So far, Hickman has started every game in 2009 and has emerged as the leader of a young offense. Hickman is not the most talented center prospect, but one thing he does have is versatility. He can play at guard or center without any trouble. At 6-4 and 295 pounds he has decent size, but could stand to add a few more pounds for the NFL (especially if he needs to spend some time at the guard position).
