2011 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Devon Torrence, CB, Ohio State

Ohio State University's Devon Torrence is a senior cornerback prospect for the 2011 NFL Draft. He is a former wide receiver who transitioned to cornerback during his sophomore year. Considering he is new to the position, he has transitioned smoothly to it.

Torrence excels in zone coverage where he can sit back in his backpedal and read the quarterback. He obviously has very good hands for a cornerback and good size. A willing tackler who isn't afraid of contact. Excellent at making plays on the ball and adjusting his body quickly to get a hand up for a deflection.

Due to his inexperience, he is still learning the nuances of man coverage. A bit stiff in his lower body when transitioning with his hips. Torrence has great natural instincts to see and adjust what the route is going to be, he just needs to continue his development with a patient coaching staff that is willing to teach him the fundamentals.

Adequate speed, good ball skills and his natural athleticism will be enough to get Torrence draft consideration.

Devon Torrence currently projects as a late round -- sixth to seventh round -- selection in the 2011 NFL Draft.
