2011 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Marshall Williams, WR, Wake Forest

Wake Forest does not often produce wide receivers who put up eye popping numbers. Marshall Williams is not an exception, but he is a talented receiver who has a shot at playing at the next level. His collegiate career did not start out very well when he missed his redshirt freshman campaign with an ankle injury, but as a sophomore the 6-1 wideout started to show his stuff. In his first year playing, he was the Demon Deacons' second leading wide receiver with 26 catches for 390 yards -- two of those catches resulted in touchdowns.

In 2009 Williams had his career year and was rewarded with a variety of all-conference accolades. On the year he caught 60 passes for 867 yards and six touchdowns. Williams was already emerging as Wake Forest's deep threat, but he certainly cemented that position during his junior campaign. Despite a dislocated pinky, Williams had a relatively successful senior campaign. He missed a couple games, but still managed to catch 24 passes for 272 yards and two touchdowns. He even threw for two touchdown passes.

Williams' lack of production during his senior season has hurt his draft stock. He is relatively quick and has decent size at 6-1, but he could struggle to beat stronger NFL corners off the line of scrimmage. Right now Williams is a late round flyer at best, but he could work his way up a little bit since he has flown under the radar during his collegiate career.
