Allen Reisner Scouting Report

2011 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Allen Reisner, TE, Iowa
Reisner does a good job sealing the line, using his frame to hold the edge on running plays. He plays his best when asked to block the man right in front of him and has a true explosion off the line. When he gets his hands on the defender, he can usually work him out of the play. He's also able to slip to the next level and lay great blocks on linebackers and safeties. On plays where he pulls or gets downfield, he gets a little upright and needs to show more tenacity, but he still does an above average job with clearing a path for the ball-carrier.
Unfortunately, Reisner has below average athleticism and does not possess the upside to be an elite receiving tight end. He does have a good feel for finding creases in zones on underneath routes, but he is not fast enough to stretch the field or challenge an athletic linebacker in man-to-man coverage. When he has the ball in his hands, he isn't elusive and doesn't look to make guys miss.
Reisner only had one full year of starting experience and that came in 2010 as a senior. Last year, he had 42 receptions for 460 yards and two touchdowns.
Allen Reisner projects as a late-round (6th or 7th) prospect with a likelihood that if not drafted, will certainly get many looks as an undrafted free agent in the 2011 NFL Draft.
