2011 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Chris White, ILB, Mississippi State

White spent two years at junior college before transferring to Mississippi, where he had an immediate and lasting impact. He was a starter from start to finish for the Bulldogs and did not disappoint. As a senior this season he led the team in total tackles with 110 and solos with 56. He also led the way with 15.5 tackles for loss and six sacks while also recording two interceptions and a fumble recovery.

Having lined up at the middle linebacker position, White projects to stay there at the next level. He has good size (6'3'' and 244 pounds) for an MLB and probably is not fast enough to play outside. He was once clocked in the 4.5s in the 40-yard dash, but he generally runs in the 4.6s or 4.7s. He will likely have to step it up in the speed department if he wants to have a serious impact on Sundays. White is not a freakish athlete like plenty of NFL players, but he can make up for some of that with his endless motor.

White was not really on NFL radar screens prior to this season, but he did a lot to change that. Thanks to his incredible 2010 campaign, White might have played his way into becoming a late-round selection.
