2011 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Kris Adams, WR, UTEP

After redshirting in 2006 and seeing limited playing time in 2007, Kris Adams stepped into UTEP's pass happy offense and emerged as a big play receiver. As a sophomore, the 6-3, Fort Worth, Texas product had a huge season. He ranked second on the team in receptions with 50 and led the Miners with 958 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. As a result he was an honorable mention All-Conference USA honoree. Relatively speaking, the 2009 season was a disappointment for Adams. He caught 42 passes, but his yards per catch average dropped from 19.2 to 13.8 and he only reached the end zone two times.

Heading into his senior campaign, Adams was hoping to recapture some of the magic from 2008. He did just that and more. Despite some troubles in the passing game, Adams had a huge season. He caught 47 passes for 1,070 yards and 14 touchdowns. The opposing defense knew exactly who quarterback Trevor Vittatoe was going to throw to, but they still could not stop Adams. His 22.8 yards per catch average was extremely impressive and Adams was a threat to score every time he touched the ball.

With his combination of size and speed, Adams should hear his name called late in the draft. He is not the strongest receiver around and that could cause some problems against more physical corners in the NFL, but he is pretty close to 6-3 and has good speed.
