2011 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Niles Brinkley, CB, Wisconsin

University of Wisconsin cornerback Niles Brinkley is a prospect who had a solid college career for the Cornhuskers, but lacks the necessary instincts and athleticism to continue into the NFL. Despite only missing one game in his four seasons, Brinkley lacks a decided, confident style of play. He is timid in getting after receivers and in coverage.

When correctly in position, he does sometimes play more aggressively, but often times is unable to anticipate the route. His athleticism is adequate but would need to dramatically improve his technique. He can excel at breaking up passes, but doesn't have the ball skills to make plays on many passes.

Brinkley greatly benefited from playing on a solid defensive team led by players like Ndamukong Suh and Prince Amukamara. His abilities were sufficient within the scheme but as an individual player, they are not proficient for NFL-caliber competition.

Brinkley is unlikely to be drafted in the 2011 NFL Draft, but may warrant consideration as an undrafted free agent.
