2012 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Jake Bequette, DE, Arkansas

Bequette is one of the more experienced players in the 2012 NFL Draft class. The Arkansas defensive end redshirted in 2007 then played in all 12 games with 11 starts as a freshman. Bequette started eight games as a sophomore, all 13 as a junior, and so far nine as a junior heading into the Cotton Bowl (a hamstring injury forced him out of a few contests). In 2010 he tallied 8.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks. In just nine games of his 2011 campaign Bequette still recorded 8.5 tackles for loss, eight sacks, and an amazing four forced fumbles.

The Little Rock, AR native has good size at 6'5'' and 271 pounds. He generally runs in the 4.6s of the 40-yard dash and has been clocked as fast as 4.54 from that distance. Bequette is a quick defensive end and he is fundamentally sound at finishing the job when he gets to the quarterback. He is not a naturally elite athlete, however, and he struggles to overpower the best offensive linemen--whom he will face on a consistent basis at the next level. The hamstring injury is not too much of a concern, as Bequette otherwise has almost no injury history throughout his lengthy career as a Razorback. Look for him to go off the board in the third or fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft.
