2012 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Frank Alexander, DE, Oklahoma

Oklahoma defensive end Frank Alexander is a late round prospect who should get some consideration because of his size and length. At 6'4" and 270 lbs, he possesses an ideal frame to play either 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB. Although he is not particularly quick, there is a long term potential to be a rotational player.

Alexander's long arms and consistent pad level put him in a good position from play to play. In spite of a lack of great athleticism or explosion off the line, sound fundamentals give him a shot to hold down a roster spot.

When doubled, Alexander can be easily overpowered which may facilitate a move to the outside. He can play on the strong side of the field and seal the edge or work the flats. He's not agile in open spaces although he can penetrate in the backfield on occasion to make plays. Alexander shows good instincts, sheds blocks well with his long arms and good hand placement.

The athleticism isn't there yet with a high football IQ, Alexander is certainly worth a late round flier.
