2013 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

John Simon, DE, Ohio State

Ohio State defensive end John Simon receives rave reviews regarding his work ethic and commitment to the weight room. He has been recovering from offseason shoulder surgery and his draft stock has slipped because of his lack of proper evaluations.

Simon earns a lot of praise because of his red-hot motor. He brings elite effort on every play and will visibly get under his opponents' skin. Very good upper body strength and will need to prove once he enters the league that he is over his shoulder injury. Aggressive in pursuit and can sometimes take himself out of the play. Could afford to lose some bulk if it added some flexibility. Plays stiff.

One-gear speed and lacks ideal burst off the line. Versatile and can play either end position. Better against the run. Flashes some ability to play out in open space, although it doesn't appear likely that he'll be considered as a potential 3-4 OLB.

Two-time team captain and emotional leader. Intelligent player and displays a natural feel for the flow of the play. Almost always in position. Could improve lower body strength, especially when bull-rushing.

Simon projects as a third to fourth round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.
