2013 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Johnny Adams, CB, Michigan State

Michigan State cornerback Johnny Adams does a little of everything well and should outperform draft value expectations. Injuries held him back early in the evaluation period, but a solid combine and pro day have helped him.

Adams has adequate height but is rarely overpowered by bigger receivers. Plays a lot of press and press-bail coverage. Lean frame, but plays bigger than his size indicates. Solid tackler. Lacks quick-twitch movement skills. Ran very well at the combine with a 4.48 40-yard dash. Lower body fluidity needs improvement and footwork is sloppy more often than not. Cover skills could be improved with technique tweaks. Nothing is broken.

Turns to find the football quickly with average ball skills. Decent hands and below-average leaping ability. Bigger receivers will win 50/50 battles. Reads the run quickly and efficiently. Does well to keep a shoulder and arm free to go after the ball-carrier.

Adams projects as a fifth to sixth round selection in the 2013 NFL Draft.
