De'Anthony Thomas, RB, Oregon

Don't be fooled by Thomas' 4.5 40-yard dash time. Timed speed and game speed are two different animals. The game film already out there more than cements Thomas' talents as a breakaway speedster. The problem remains of how to get him the football and how to properly make the most of his athleticism.

Thomas has a track background and sprinter speed. Elite change of direction. Elite foot quickness. Excellent lateral agility. Doesn't juke much. Prefers to make one move and run. Foot planted in the dirt and goes. Above-average vision and cutback runner. A bit too thin to play a traditional running back role. Offense will have to create packages for him to play in specifically and slowly work him into other parts of the offense.

Too often hears footsteps. Short arms passes over the middle. Will avoid tackles and slide under them. Relies too much on athleticism and will need to improve work ethic. Excellent returner. A lighter Percy Harvin. Will need to bulk up from head to toe. Pass protection nearly non-existent. All the little things that coaches will give him a hard time about (ball security, pass protection, fear of contact, etc.) are going to push him down the draft. But as they say, it only takes one team to like him.

Thomas projects as a fourth round pick with first round athleticism in the 2014 NFL Draft.
