2013 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Jonathan Cyprien, SS, Florida International

FIU safety prospect Jonathan Cyprien is receiving a lot of buzz as the draft approaches that could challenge as a possible first round pick.

Cyprien has ideal height and bulk. At his best when running downhill and in pursuit of the ball-carrier. Runs hard with aggression. Will sometimes look like he already knows the play before his teammates. Hits hard and breaks down well. Very physical defender and can bring big hits without sacrificing balance or technique.

Top-end speed is average and will need to run well in pre-draft testing in order to validate his rising stock. Not fast enough to get sideline-to-sideline in deep single coverage. Better fit in two deep or in the box as an extra linebacker. Showed good hands and has enough length to disrupt the catch. Performed very well as a standout at the Senior Bowl. Must continue to test well compared to similar safeties in his class and show he can hold his own.

Cyprien projects as an early second round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Prediction: 1st Round

Baltimore, New England, Cincinnati and San Francisco seem like natural fits. I doubt he gets past the 49ers at 31

Prediction: 1st Round

St Louis at the Earliest, SF at the latest, and several teams in between that I could see taking him. Hoping he ends up in a Green Bay jersey.
