2014 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Shayne Skov, LB , Stanford

Due to his average athleticism, Skov's perceived upside is lacking. It also doesn't help that he has a history of knee issues (torn ACL back in 2011) and may not fit the ideal size needs for an inside linebacker.

Good diagnosis skills. Reads the play and can react quickly to fill the hole. Plays faster than any timed speed will show. Good tackler in a phone booth. Wraps up and takes guys off their feet. Average quickness and change of direction. Not a quick twitch athlete. Plays aggressively downhill. Over pursuit is an issue from time to time and will wash himself out of plays.

Injury history with left knee. Still some lingering concerns about his recovery. Struggles in the open field in coverage. Will have lots of trouble staying with faster backs and tight ends in coverage. May not be viewed as a true every-down linebacker which would really push his stock into the later rounds.

Skov projects as a fourth or fifth round prospect in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Prediction: 3rd Round

Skov is the tackling machine that will replace spikes for New England. Bill B. will most likely use the 92nd pick to get a player that belongs in the 6th round instead. Ras-i DSowling couldn't make the field in college, and NE wasted the 33rd pick on a guy that NEVER made it thru training camp.

Prediction: 3rd Round

I could see a team loving his intelligence and perhaps slightly overdrafting him. 3rd round to a team like New Orleans or New England seems most reasonable.
