Tyler Lockett, WR, Kansas State
Coming in at just under six-foot, Lockett obviously doesn't have the sexy physical tools we often look for in receiver prospects, though he did post a solid 4.4 40 time at the combine. He has a third round draft grade, so you know he has to have more nuanced attributes that make up for a lack of size. And Lockett has a lot going for him outside of the physical tools. Scouts praise him as an excellent route runner with an excellent knowledge of the game, which makes sense being that his father played receiver in the NFL. Along with the football IQ, his character is a big plus. The size issue may limit him to the slot at the next level and could prevent him from being a punt returner in the NFL, which would be a shame because he led the nation in punt return average last year. But his limitations are not so significant that they'll prevent him from having a good shot to become an NFL regular. Teams looking for help at receiver might be well served to consider Lockett after the first couple of rounds.
