2007 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Ben Patrick, TE, Delaware

At the tight end position this year, there's Greg Olsen and Zach Miller, and then there's everyone else. Ben Patrick could emerge as the most valuable of that hidden gem bunch. Being overshadowed by Olsen and Miller is not the only reason why Patrick is going under the radar. First off, he played at Delaware; not exactly a football powerhouse in case you're wondering. It's also not hard to get overlooked when early in your career you didn't see one second of playing time in a whole season on Duke's football roster. Patrick transferred before his senior season and immediately became a dominant force for the Blue Hens. He will never be a dominant tight end at the next level, but he should be a steal for some team on the second day of the draft. Patrick is not outstanding at any one thing, but he will contribute in several areas. He is versatile to the extent that he can shift into the backfield at either halfback or fullback, where he has proven to be a solid blocker and even an effective occasional ball-carrier. He also has great size at 6-4 and 270 pounds.
