Author's Comments

I decided not to include trades

1 - HOU: Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida
Houston's offseason moves suggest that they want a QB. Bortles fits O'Brien's QB preferences
2 - STL: Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn
Rams gets protection for Bradford and an excellent run-blocker to boost their run-game
3 - JAX: Jadeveon Clowney, DE , South Carolina
Jaguars need a QB, but if Clowney is available here they can't pass on the best player in the draft. Pass-rush has been a need for them for years
4 - CLE: Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson
Browns wait to get a QB (unless their complete lack of interest in Manziel is a giant smokescreen). Instead they get the best WR in the draft. Future star
5 - OAK: Khalil Mack, LB , Buffalo
The money given to Schaub suggests that they don't view any of the QBs in the draft as first year-starters. Mack is the best player available. Excellent pass-rusher
6 - ATL: Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M
Falcons need to protect Matt Ryan better than last year. Matthew is a polished pass-protecter. Day 1 starter
7 - TB: Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M
6'5, very athletic, great hands. Have been compared with Vincent Jackson. The two of them together would be a dangerous WR-duo
8 - MIN: Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M
Vikings have a need at QB. Manziel is a great playmaker. Defensive minded coaches usually appreciates the threat of dual-threat QBs. Stron arm makes him fit Norv Turner's aggressive offense
9 - BUF: Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina
EJ Manuel need to be in an environment in which he can produce and gain confidence. A premium pass-catchin TE would go a long way
10 - DET: Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State
Lions need CBs. Gilbert is big, fast and athletic. He has added value in the return game
11 - TEN: Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville
Bridgewater falls to Titans due to questions about arm strength. Good value at this point in the draft. Great decisionmaking, accurate on short and intermediate throws. Locker's durability issues put Titans in QB-market
12 - NYG: Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan
Giants need to protect Eli better than last season. Lewan is a top-ten talent, but the off-field issues are serious. Giants have a history of straightening out troubled players
13 - STL: Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix, FS, Alabama
Rams need a safety. Clinton-Dix is a complete player. Good in coverage and good tackler
14 - CHI: Tim Jernigan, DT, Florida State
Complete DT. Will improve Bear's D-line and their horrible run-defense
15 - PIT: Darqueze Dennard, CB , Michigan State
Not the most athletic CB. But technically polished and plays hard. Fits the Steeler's tough mentality
16 - BAL: Zack Martin, OT, Notre Dame
Versatile O-lineman. Will help Ravens get their run-game going
17 - DAL: Aaron Donald, DL , Pittsburgh
Cowboys are making a defensive overhaul. They need linemen. Donald is small, but extremely explosive and have great college production
18 - NYJ: Bradley Roby, CB , Ohio State
Rex have wanted a CB all through free agency. They get one for him in the draft instead. Roby is very athletic, high potential
19 - MIA: Xavier Su'a-Filo, OL , UCLA
Dolphins O-line was a catastrophy last season and now they have lost multiple starters at the position, rebuilding is needed. Su'a Filo is best O-lineman available
20 - ARI: Anthony Barr, LB, UCLA
Too good to still be on the board. Cardinals get great pass-rusher
21 - GB: Calvin Pryor, S, Louisville
Packers need a saftey. Pryor has good value at this point in the draft. Tough, hard-hitter.
22 - PHI: C.J. Mosley, OLB, Alabama
Best ILB in draft. Best player available. Eagles can't pass on him.
23 - KC: Brandin Cooks, WR , Oregon State
Cheifs need playmakers in the passing game. Cooks had excellent production in College and is really fast
24 - CIN: Dee Ford, DE , Auburn
Bengals need to replace Michael Johnson. Dee Ford gives them powerful edge-rush
25 - SD: Louis Nix, DT, Notre Dame
Big and strong DT. Fits Chargers scheme.
26 - CLE: Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State
Carr seems to be their QB. Pettine called him the best natural passer in the draft
27 - NO: Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech
Saints need CBs and Fuller has good instincts and good hands
28 - CAR: Marqise Lee, WR , USC
Panthers and Newton need WRs. Lee is an explosive playmaker
29 - NE: Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Florida State
Benjamin is the big-bodied receiver that NE need. Provides a physical mismatch against DBs
30 - SF: Jason Verrett, CB , TCU
49ers need a CB. Verret is a bit short, but very athletic. Fast and competitive.
31 - DEN: Chris Borland, ILB, Wisconsin
Broncos addressed a lot of needs in free agency. The only pressing need remaining is at ILB. Borland is a hard-working player, relentless motor
32 - SEA: Cyrus Kouandjio, OL , Alabama
Seattle have a need at RT. If Kouandijo checks out medically he is an immediate starter. Big guy whose run-blocking skills fit Seahawk's offense
