5/8 MJL985's Mock Draft (Round 2)
1 - HOU: Jadeveon Clowney, DE , South Carolina
Athletic freak. Being on a defense with JJ Watt could be benificial to his lack of work ethic. QB is an issue and could be addressed here if they like a player enough.
2 - STL: Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson
Watkins is too good to pass for an offense that needs better play from the receiver position. OT could be addressed.
3 - JAX: Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville
Should be starter from day one. Likely the most pro ready. It's really up to who they like best.
4 - CLE: Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M
Great play maker, needs to get bigger. Can make bad decisions throwing. I don't think the "off-field issues" are a big deal.
5 - OAK: Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn
Big, athletic tackle should start from day one.
6 - ATL: Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M
Better than last years second overall pick and teammate. Family tree of NFL lineman. Baker is back but here's the insurance plan and right tackle for a year or two. Defense could be addressed here.
7 - TB: Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan
If his interviews at the combine went as well as his on-field drills he should be a high pick. Fills a hole that's needed patching for years.
8 - MIN: Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida
Big QB who needs to work on deep throws.
9 - BUF: Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M
EJ Manuel showed promise in his rookie season. Evans is a huge target who will provide instant red zone problems for teams.
10 - DET: Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State
Good sized corner with great speed is a must get for the Lions.
11 - TEN: Khalil Mack, LB , Buffalo
Versitle star in the making. He will rush, Drop back and create plays all over the field. Could go top 10.
12 - NYG: Darqueze Dennard, CB , Michigan State
Physical corner fills a big need for the Giants secondary.
13 - STL: Calvin Pryor, S, Louisville
The first pick the Rams have will impact what they do here. 25th in the league against the pass is bad. Safety was a concern at times and this young defense keeps building.
14 - CHI: Aaron Donald, DL , Pittsburgh
Chicago was terrible against the run. Donald is a hard woorker who's good against the run and pass. Slightly under weight but makes up for it with quickness and technique
15 - PIT: Louis Nix, DT, Notre Dame
big plug in the middle of the defense. Steelers have needs in the secondary and offensive line also that could be addressed here.
16 - BAL: Marqise Lee, WR , USC
It was a down year for the receivers. Lee should be a great complement to Smith.
17 - DAL: Stephon Tuitt, DL , Notre Dame
Versitle end/tackle is big and can generate a pass rush.
18 - NYJ: Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina
Jets need offensive weapons. Ebron can move around the offense and create mismatches.
19 - MIA: Zack Martin, OT, Notre Dame
Hopefully things turn out better for this Martin in Miami. Could be the LT they need or bounce inside.
20 - ARI: Anthony Barr, LB, UCLA
Cardinals will be very lucky if Barr falls to them. They have other needs but Barr is too good not to draft as a pass rusher. Offensive line still needs upgrades.
21 - GB: Jace Amaro, TE , Texas Tech
Huge athletic pass catcher. With Jones and Finley likely gone this gives Rodgers another weapon. Willing blocker who can be moved around.
22 - PHI: Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix, FS, Alabama
Starter day one. Good size and athleticism
23 - KC: C.J. Mosley, OLB, Alabama
Offensive weapons are a need but can be found in later rounds. Mosley helps an already good defense
24 - CIN: Trent Murphy, LB, Stanford
Murphy is big and quick. Gives the defense youth at pass rusher
25 - SD: Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech
Chargers gave up a lot of yards through the air. Fuller played well when healthy last year.
26 - CLE: Xavier Su'a-Filo, OL , UCLA
If QB is not addressed in the early part of the round Derek Carr could be an option.
27 - NO: Kony Ealy, DL , Missouri
The defense was better last season and Ealy could help give the Saints a better pass rush.
28 - CAR: Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Florida State
Huge target, it's a skeleton crwe at receiver and Smith may not be back. Corner is an option here too.
29 - NE: Tim Jernigan, DT, Florida State
Expect a trade out of round one. Wilfork and Kelly are both coming off injuries and getting older. Corner & safety could get looks too.
30 - SF: Odell Beckham, WR , LSU
Patton didn't do much and Jenkins was traded last year. Boldin is gone and Beckam
31 - DEN: Bradley Roby, CB , Ohio State
Athletic speedster and 3 year starter. Denverneeds corners if they want to return the the Big game.
32 - SEA: Morgan Moses, OT, Virginia
With Cyrus Kouandjio's knee most likely knocking him out of round 1, Moses steps in. Seattle had to patch together a line at times due to injury last year.
