3/16 Psykill49's Mock Draft
1 - ATL: Jadeveon Clowney, DE , South Carolina
TRADE w/ HOU for 6th overall, 2nd rd(37th overall) & 2015 3rd rd pick. If they are to stand a chance against the reigning NFC powerhouses(Niners, Hawks, Packers, Panthers, Saints & Eagles), who all have stud franchise QB's. They must get an elite pass rusher.
2 - MIN: Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida
TRADE w/ STL for 8th ovrall, 2nd rd(40th overall) & 4th rd picks. They don't want to wait around for the QB leftovers as they did in 2011(Ponder, Christian), and move up to take the most physically gifted passer in the draft.
3 - JAX: Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville
Jags stand pat & get the most NFL ready QB in this draft.
4 - CLE: Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson
Watkins & Gordon give Cleveland one of the best WR duos in the league, now they just need a QB to deliver the ball...
5 - OAK: Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M
This pick is a coinflip! Having lost their 2 best players to free agency, the Raiders need an upgrade at every position on the team. That being said, they(shockingly) do the right thing and start the re-build in the trenches.
6 - HOU: Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M
TRADED w/ATL for 1st overall pick. Texans aquire more picks, and still get their guy.
7 - TB: Khalil Mack, LB , Buffalo
Lovie Smith wants to build a championship defense, and starts with the best all around defender in the draft.
8 - STL: Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn
TRADED w/ MIN for 2nd overall pick. The Rams now have a bounty of picks with which to build a team worthy of competeing in the best division in football. If Bradford is indeed their future, then they must do a better job protecting that investment. With Matthews gone they take the 2nd best Takle in the draft.
9 - BUF: Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix, FS, Alabama
Although tempted to take mike Evans here, WR depth in this draft is as good as its been in years, and the Bills have holes to fill. The biggest hole being the one left by the loss of their best player... Jairus Byrd.
10 - DET: Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State
The Lions biggest need is at CB, & they get their pick of the litter. Torn between Dennard & Gilbert, they go with the highly athletic ball-hawk.
11 - SF: Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M
TRADE w/ TEN for 30th overall, 2nd rd(61st overall), 3rd rd, 7th rd & 2015 3rd rd picks. Why would a top contender give up so much for 1 player? As has been the case for the last few years, the Niners will have only a few roster spots up for grabs this season. Although most would argue CB is their biggest need, the last 2 seasons have ended in the right side of the end-zone because they lacked a legitimate red-zone target... Evans will change that.
12 - NYG: Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan
Given protection, Eli is a winner... 2 Superbowl rings prove that! Lewan gives them a prototype LT.
13 - STL: Calvin Pryor, S, Louisville
This pick would have been Evans, had the Niners not leapfrogged them. However, they fill perhaps their biggest need(without reaching) & pair Pryor with McDonald to create a very formidable tandem on the back end.
14 - CHI: Kony Ealy, DL , Missouri
With the loss of Peppers & Melton, the Bears desperatly need d-line help. The best scheme fits on the board are Ealy & Aaron Donald, Tie goes to the premium pass rusher.
15 - PIT: Louis Nix, DT, Notre Dame
Maybe the best NT prospect since Vince Wilfork. He will become the centerpiece of the Steelers 3-4 defense for years to come.
16 - BAL: C.J. Mosley, OLB, Alabama
Could provide the Skill and leadership that has been missing since that one guy(I think he was #52) retired.
17 - DAL: Aaron Donald, DL , Pittsburgh
Dallas needs an entirely new defensive front. Donald does not look the part and is hardly the prototype, but he is a fierce interior pass rusher & is surprisingly solid against the run.
18 - NYJ: Anthony Barr, LB, UCLA
The Jets LB corps is in desperate need of youth/talent infusion, Barr provides that... Along with a serious pass rush threat.
19 - MIA: Darqueze Dennard, CB , Michigan State
With veterans Grimes & Finnegan manning the starting spots, the Dolphins need to start building this secondary for the future.
20 - ARI: Dee Ford, DE , Auburn
They need LB's & a pass rusher, Maybe they get both?
21 - GB: Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina
Even if Finley returns(which is unlikely), he is injury prone & average at best. Ebron gives Rodgers a reliable security blanket.
22 - PHI: Ra'Shede Hageman, DL , Minnesota
Philly is working toward joining the NFC's elite. Before they can, a few upgrades are needed at OLB, FS & NT. Hageman fills the need at NT, but can also play at any position on the line.
23 - KC: Brandin Cooks, WR , Oregon State
The Chiefs need a playmaker. In Cooks they get maybe the best one in the draft. Doubles as a return man.
24 - CIN: Ryan Shazier, LB , Ohio State
A perfect fit in this scheme, as well as a top need. Shazier plugs into this line up seamlessly.
25 - SD: Tim Jernigan, DT, Florida State
Desperatly needing talent on the d-line, the Chargers jump on the sliding Jernigan.
26 - CLE: Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State
... And the Browns still get their QB. If healty, Hoyer can hold down the fort until Carr is ready.
27 - NO: Zack Martin, OT, Notre Dame
Priority #1 for the Saints should always be, protect Drew Brees... Which they did not do last season! Hopefully Martin helps to remedy that.
28 - CAR: Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Florida State
The panthers have no one at WR... No one! They lost their top 3 receivers, and desperatly need to re-stock. They start with the big/physical Benjamin, and Cam is all smiles.
29 - NE: Jace Amaro, TE , Texas Tech
A healthy Gronk needs a running mate, and Amaro gives them another big, physical target to threaten the seam.
30 - TEN: Stephon Tuitt, DL , Notre Dame
TRADED w/ SF for 11th overall & 6th rd picks. Now with a bevey of picks and depth needed across the board, it should be best player available all the way. They badly need a pass rusher. In Tuitt they get just that, as well as a guy that can play anywhere on the line. He is also 1 of the top 5 players left on the board.
31 - DEN: Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech
After a sound beating in the Super Bowl, the Broncos realize the importance of a talented secondary. With Bailey now gone and Rodgers-Cromartie in limbo, they need to start re-building the secondary. Talib & Fuller are a good start.
32 - SEA: Cyrus Kouandjio, OL , Alabama
Despite winning the Super Bowl, Wilson was harassed all season long and desperatly needs protection to stay healthy long term.
