amidon27's Mock Draft (Round 1)

<< Previous Mock Draft View all User NFL Mock Drafts Next Mock Draft >>

1 - HOU: Jadeveon Clowney, DE , South Carolina
HOU cant get anyone to trade up to the first pick so they take clowney here.
2 - ATL: Khalil Mack, LB , Buffalo
(TRADE WITH STL) after not being able to trade up to number 1 for clowney ATL comes up over JAX to get the OLB out of buffalo that will be a perfect fit in there defence.
3 - JAX: Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson
with mack now off the board JAX has to decide what they want to do, they could take manziel here if they feel hes a franchise QB or they take the best available player to improve a bad team so here i think they take watkins.
4 - CLE: Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn
with watkins off the board the browns get the best OT in the draft to pair with thomas and sure up there O-LINE.
5 - OAK: Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan
OAK would like to move back and get a couple more picks in this draft but since no one is willing to come up here they take a good OT.
6 - STL: Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M
(TRADE WITH ATL) STL was able to move back and pick up more picks from ATL and they are still able to take one of the top three OT's in the draft.
7 - TB: Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M
theres talk of TB taking manziel here but they just signed Maccown in free agency and they have more of a need at wide reciever, i think they take evans and pair him with jackson to give them a dynamic offence.
8 - MIN: C.J. Mosley, OLB, Alabama
heres the first real spot i could see a QB going, if minnesota did take a QB here i think it would be bortles over manziel, but MIN new head coach is a defensive guy so i think they take a linebacker that has great instincts and will be a probowler player for the next ten years.
9 - NYJ: Odell Beckham, WR , LSU
(TRADE WITH BUF) with all the talk about DET wanting to take watkins the jets get nervous that they might take beckham at 10 so they trade up to 9 to get there reciever to add to there offence.
10 - DET: Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State
DET needs help in the secondary so they take the best corner in the draft here.
11 - TEN: Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida
heres where i think the first QB comes off the board, with whisenhunt as the new coach i think they start a new regime, when whisenhunt was with the steelers they drafted rothlesburger when they already had a QB and bortles is the same type of player, he could sit behind locker for a year then become the franchise quarterback.
12 - NYG: Zack Martin, OT, Notre Dame
the giants have a couple options here, they could take the athletic tight end out of north carolina, but i think they need to get an OT to help protect manning otherwise they will have a top 15 pick again next year,
13 - STL: Calvin Pryor, S, Louisville
STL is in a tough division that likes to run the ball so here i think they take a hard hitting safty that can come up in the box and be a force.
14 - CHI: Aaron Donald, DL , Pittsburgh
CHI needs help at safty and DT, i think they need to start on the D-LINE, donald would be a great fit as someone that can stop the run and can get pressure on the QB and not allowing them to step up into the pocket.
15 - PIT: Darqueze Dennard, CB , Michigan State
PIT needs help at corner, theres to good options here, they could go fuller or dennard here, either would be a solid pick, i think they take dennard though because he has the better ball skills.
16 - DAL: Anthony Barr, LB, UCLA
DAL has said they would take manziel if he was here at 16 and he has fallen this far, but they have the worst defence in the NFL and without ware on there team this year they need someone to get pressure on the QB.
17 - BAL: Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix, FS, Alabama
BAL always takes the best player on there board, they also have a need at safty since ed reed left and clinton-dix is a ball hawk that can play the center of the field, i think this would be a good fit here.
18 - BUF: Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina
(TRADE WITH NYJ) BUF has done a great job not reaching on players the last two years, they traded back and picked up more picks and still had a great player fall to them here.
19 - SF: Marqise Lee, WR , USC
(TRADE WITH MIA) SF has alot of picks in this draft but a very talented roster so most rookies wont make there team, so they trade multiple picks to move up ahead of PHI AND KC to get a playmaking reciever that can come in and contribute right away to a team thats already a super bowl contender.
20 - ARI: Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State
ARI could get an edge pass rusher here or get a QB to learn behind palmer for a year and then become the franchise guy, even with manziel still on the board i believe they make carr the second QB off the board and he will have a great future.
21 - GB: Ryan Shazier, LB , Ohio State
here GB could get another wide reciever to add to there offence, but i think they get an OLB to pair on the other side of mathews.
22 - PHI: Brandin Cooks, WR , Oregon State
PHI takes a reciever here that has alot of the same skils as desean jackson who they just released. this will make sure they still have an explosive offence.
23 - KC: Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M
with 5 recievers already off the board i dont see them stretching to take a 6th already, andy reid has a history of taking athletic QB's and developing them, with alex smith not looking like he will return after next season i think manziel finally comes off the board and sits and learns the offence for a year.
24 - CIN: Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech
CIN needs to get a CB and fuller has fallen this far, some people have him rated as the best CB in the draft.
25 - SD: Bradley Roby, CB , Ohio State
SD biggest need is at corner and they were hoping that fuller was going to make it to them, but they are still going to take a CB in roby.
26 - CLE: Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville
CLE already took the best OT in the draft with there first pick so here they take there franchise QB in bridgewater who could be a steal, i expect him to have a great NFL career.
27 - NO: Louis Nix, DT, Notre Dame
i think NO could take a big DT that they could put in the center of there 3-4 defence to control the line of scrimmage.
28 - CAR: Cyrus Kouandjio, OL , Alabama
CAR needs a wide reciever but they can get them in a later round so here they take an OT to replace the retired gross.
29 - NE: Jace Amaro, TE , Texas Tech
NE tries to trade out of this pick but with none of the first round QB's left on the board no one is willing to come back in so NE will take a big tight end to add to there offence.
30 - MIA: Morgan Moses, OT, Virginia
(TRADE WITH SF) MIA was able to trade back and get more picks to help rebuild there roster, here they take a big OT to help there O-LINE.
31 - DEN: Xavier Su'a-Filo, OL , UCLA
DEN needs to get stronger on the O-LINE, if they want to be able to compete with teams like seattle and SF they need to be able to control the line of scrimmage and run the ball.
32 - SEA: Stanley Jean-Baptiste, CB , Nebraska
SEA just keeps adding talent to there team, here they get another big CB to put on the other side of sherman.
