2015 Outlook: Bust (overvalued)Last updated on Jun-21-2015 by Shawn Childs
Shane has high upside as a pass catcher and could very easily emerge as the Giants' third receiving option behind Beckham and Randle. Over the past two years, Vereen has caught 99 passes for 874 yards in 24 games with the New England Patriots. He won't provide much on the ground, especially with Jennings and Williams on the roster. He should be in line for about 100 touches, 550 yards and a few TDs. He'll have more production if injuries continue to get the best of Jennings.
New York Giants RB Shane Vereen
The Giants are expected to deploy a three-back system this season. Rashad Jennings will be the primary back, Shane Vereen the pass-catcher and Andre Williams has emerged as the favorite to see goal-line touches. Jennings is a major injury risk, so Williams could see a lot of carries as well. Jennings is now 30 years old and has never made it through a full 16-game season. While Williams only managed 3.3 yards per carry last season, he was very good in short-yardage situations punching in seven touchdowns. He also ran behind a miserable offensive line. Jennings only averaged 3.8 YPC himself.Fantasy Analysis:
Williams was a Heisman Trophy candidate at Boston College and has a ton of talent. It wouldn't shock me at all if he had a breakout season. Jennings will more than likely miss at least some time and Williams will see the bulk of the carries in his absence. The offensive line still isn't great, but it may be improved. Also, the passing attack will garner more attention in 2015. Williams is worth a late-round pick as a TD vulture and a handcuff with a high probability of starting a decent amount of games.
