2016 Outlook:Last updated on Aug-04-2016 by Shawn Childs
Shorts continued on his negative progression over his last three years. His season started off with 22 catches for 236 yards and a TD on 39 targets, which put him on a solid pace over 16 games. He missed Week 5 with a dislocated left shoulder setting the tone for regression. His opportunity took a slight step back in his next game (4/63) while developing a hamstring issue. This led to two more games on the sidelines. When Shorts returned to the starting lineup in Week 10, his role was a shell of his early season success. He caught 16 passes for 185 yards and a TD on 29 targets in his next five games. A groin injury forced him to leave his game in Week 15 leading to two more missed games. In his career, Cecil has a poor catch rate (51.3) with low production in TDs (14 in 61 games). His experience may give him the inside track as the WR2 for Houston, but his injury risk and lack of upside talent will lead to a declining role.
